Vintage Crocket &Jones ankle boot.

Shell Cordovan with well developed wave. These last forever if maintained properly. I’ve had from new circa 20 yrs.

Ethnic spirit ankle boots- not sure yet if I’ll wear the brown or the green- cool shoes made in Guatemala from recycled tyres (sole), local veg tanned leather and vintage (retired) ceremonial clothing
Quality is awesome- these are welted and actually last- the brown pair I’ve actually had to have resoled after about 3000kms walking in them

Waiting for these to arrive- MTO from Santalum- zero drop with wide toe box
Most of my shoes I buy 2nd hand- have a pair of Winsons, Loakes, Grensons and Junkards which I’ve bought off forums but thought it might be nice to have shoes built specifically for my foot shape

Those are casual and I like them very much. They only look heavy. They are lighter than Stows. Relatively easy to break in.

Something worries me tho. Please see below picture - super tiny "cracks" are visible on both toe caps. Very difficult to capture with phone camera. Noticeable only under heavy light and specific angle. I can barely feel it with my fingers. Leather is nourished properly so this is not because of drying out. Am I overreacting?

I’m pretty sure that is normal- but will ask on a welted shoe forum I’m on and report back

Ok- what you are seeing there as ‘crazing’ is perfectly normal for full grain leather which is both smooth and velvety… BUT has not been snuffed, sanded, or buffed to remove any natural marks or imperfections from its surface. Its fibers are stable and durable because the grain has not been removed.
…a lot of less expensive shoes are made from corrected grain leather which in its raw state is less cosmetically pleasing and or damaged and is therefore sanded back and then may have a faux grain stamped onto it
