What shipper provides 5k insurance in Canada?

I'm running into an issue where I can't find a provider that provides enough insurance to ship my watch across Canada (Alberta to Ontario). I've contacted Canada post, UPS, Purolator, and DHL, and just got back from FedEx but they all only have coverage ranging from $500-$1000 for items classified as jewellery.

What do you guys use to ship watches?

Thanks for the links! I just got off the phone with fedex, and it looks like if I create a shipping label on the site, I'll be able to insure it for the full amount.

Only issue is that they want $320 shipping each way.

Wasn't the actual liability limit for Fedex something like $500 or $1000? That said, many have commented that they'll sell you to whatever amount you want.

I was in the jewellery business for decades. We shipped valuables, regularly. All within Canada. As I recall, when something was sent “MONEY PACK”, the contents were covered to their insured amount. As I recall, for shipments like this, we used Brinks or Loomis. Expensive, but worth the peace of mind.

FedEx, UPS and the like will often sell you coverage and charge you for it, but they won't pay off in case of loss. What always governs is their written policy contract, and not what a shipping jockey decided to sell the consignor. Just be careful.

Hey Bryan,
not sure what they are doing but I helped a $10K watch get across the country for $80 fully insured, sent with Fedex but insured by flagship.

What was the premium and buyer undertake to pay? Flagship is available worldwide?

premium is $1.25/$100 insured value, this is a Canadian company and the coverage is only when shipped from inside Canada. I would expect as with any item of value that the seller and buyer have to agree on how it is sent safely, and who is going to pay for it....

Eshipper provides amazing insurance, much cheaper and more comprehensive than carrier insurance (eShipper is a free service which offers heavily discounted rates on services like UPS, Purolator and FedEx). Feel free to use my promo code SHIPNSAVE, for personalized service and preferred client pricing.

Sercursus is 1% so 5,000 of coverage would be $50 and then you can ship however you please. They have rules though (double boxed, photos, and no labeling or contents). That’s the least expensive way to go with the insurance
