Wondering if anyone can help me identify this Omega watch my grandfather gave me years back. He bought it sometime late 40's to early 50's. It's automatic and the crown is gold plated. I've tried looking but Omega has made so many over the years I can't find anything specific. I don't know the first thing about watches, but curious what this is. I've never opened it up so I don't have a serial number. There's nothing on the back of the watch. Thanks

I’m not sure what makes you say it’s automatic. If the watch is wound until it stops winding it is a manual wind watch. The only certain identification will come from a watchmaker opening the caseback and obtaining the case reference and movement serial number. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s a 26x series, maybe a 265 or 266. They had large six-eater subseconds like yours.

The reference and serial numbers (and potentially more information) are inside. Not likely automatic as @Fulton8or indicated.
