Hi all, I am looking to sell my Ed White, but do not have sufficient privileges on this forum to do so. However, I would appreciate the collective wisdom of this group to set a price on eBay or Chrono24 to sell this piece. Note: Out of respect for this site, I will not sell through this platform. Below are pics of the watch, but here's what I know: - Hands and dial are relumed with ZnS. - Pushers are original - Service parts: movement, crown, DNN bezel, caseback, silver rehaut - Known issue with lazy hour counter, otherwise watch and chronograph function works well. - Case is in excellent condition. I paid $7,700 for this piece back in August of 2019 (seems like a different world back then!). Curious what this group would think is a fair price? Excited for your feedback! Thanks, AJ
Just to get that right. There is a different movement inside? Bezel and Caseback are obvious, Hands could be easily bettered on and a later crown wouldn't bother me. But if the Movement is a service/swapped 321, you might be better off selling the parts separately. Sorry to say that, but as it is it's very far away from what a collector would consider a halfway convincing vintage piece. Did you try to get an Extract for the movement?
Oh wow, they really did change everything. I agree with above that it might have more value as a parts watch, unless someone wants to buy it as a relatively inexpensive daily wearer. Don't forget to mention the drag mark on the hour register in your listing!
Thanks for the feedback; a lot of very painful lessons learned here. So, based on this all...what does feel like is a good sale price for parts? Is that $100? $1,000? $3,000?
Your best bet is to list on eBay with no reserve and properly describe the watch. You will get quite a bit more than $3k IMO. The movement and case are worth more than that. I bet it gets around $5k (but recommend doing a simple no reserve auction).
Something around 5k should be realistic, as suggested above. If you're not in a hurry, wait with the sale until the Corona crisis has past.
Thanks for the feedback. Re: coronavirus...I'm not at home right now, so I'll probably wait until I return to NYC and can reasonably move about town. I wanted to to the due diligence with these experts (THANK YOU!!) before making a consideration. I've sold a couple of pieces through trusted sellers (Tropical watch, HQ Milton) and am moving towards one bigger purchase when the market on that piece settles a little bit.
Maybe they had a caseback lying around with a zero less There is always some hope - as we say: never say never with Omega
I think you mis-read my response. I wrote "with a zero less" which would mean 145.012 instead of 145.0012 which has only a single bevel - no?
I actually don't have a pic of the case back inside. Is there any easy way to pop it off without a specific tool? Im happy to try, but obviously don't want to injure the watch or movement.
That's what I thought - as much as I can, I'd like to preserve the value of this piece. Took some beauties in the sunlight, too:
