Is there a list somewhere with all the speedmasters? Does anyone know how many are we talking about? Every once in a while i see a speedmaster i didnt knew it existed.
thanx!!! With books though there is a problem that the info stops the day the book is printed, and i don't see omega stop making LE speedmasters any time soon It would be nice if omega had an online official archive with each model and year of production
This is like picking your favorite watch. Simply not possible to determine which speedys complete the collection. Aside, to everyone outside of this message board, they all look the same. I'm done for now (yes, I realize I have said this a few times in the past) as I can't think of one to add to my collection of three.
Hopefully there will be another straight lug making its way over to me at some point. And a 105.012-63/64/65. And a chocolate dial. And a '68 transitional. And maybe another straight lug.
is a Radial Dial from '78 included? http://www.fratellowatches.com/omega-speedmaster-professional-radial-dial-1978/
For me (which I am not actively pursuing) - one example of all the 2915 and 2998 subreferences. If I had the funds and the inclination I would buy these watches again and again and again.
yeah! Good Thread For me the basics would be: 2915-1 2915-2 2915-3 2998-1 (Lollipop) 2998-2 (Lollipop) 2998-3 2998-4 2998-5 2998-6 2998-61 2998-62 105.002 105.003 145.003 105.012 145.012 145.022 Apollo-Soyuz moonphase
66CB has to be on the list, the last watch on the moon, and I've often suspected the first though can't be certain
When is enough enough? It is the nature of our condition/ affliction to continue to buy the thing we covet, for me it is marine chronometers and Megaquartz's irrelevant of how many I have I coms never have enough. For many of the speedmaster collectors in our community it has become a calling and indeed (as recent history has taught us) a sound investment strategy but there IMHO isn't an ultimate or perfect speedmaster collection. The logic in buying the same thing over and over and over again is not seen by normal people as sound decision making but for those of you who have hoovered up speedies in the last few years it's paid a lot more dividends than most investment strategies I could conceive! I base my collection of speedmaster (a humble on compared to many) on watches I enjoy and wear and when they find themselves languishing in a watch box more than they get worn then they get sold
For me the perfect collection would be : -2915-1 or -2 -2998-1 or -2 -2998-3, -4, -5 or -6 -105.003 -105.012-65 -105.012-66 CB -145.012 -145.022-68 with applied logo -145.022-69 -345.0809 -376.0822
My idea of a collection of Speedmasters is two! My 1989 Apollo 11 commemorative model with the clear back, and my 1989 Speedmaster reduced in 18-karat rose gold and stainless. The rose gold one is scarce enough to satisfy my need for a rare one! But I can see the reason for the obsession of some folks.
I agree, but if you were to put a number on it... I would say at least three Speedmasters, to call it a 'Speedmaster collection'. Just my point of view..
IMHO (because I own them )No Speedmaster "Complete List" is truly complete without these examples: Both Straight Writing Examples, 145.022-69 No Inscription Caseback, 145.022-71
