What is “rare” (aka, “scarce”) in vintage Omegas?

HI Russell

Lets agree to disagree.... Your sticking point is an issue run.. Which I do not find as a a sticking point...

maybe if it was combined with a 283 Rg ( Swan neck ) movement ..... that is something else...

eitherway

Good Hunting

Bill
Hi Bill
I take your point on board and appreciate it and see the angle you are coming from.
Cheers Russell.

Well actually we do in the UK.👍 @tyrantlizardrex organises Time4apint meet ups every month in London. I've been to one of them and met some of the chaps. It was a very enjoyable and informative evening and I'm keen to go again as soon as I'm able. Chris is a friendly bloke, and contributes good stuff to the forum (including some interesting podcasts). I'm sure he'd welcome you..... even though you tried to ban him from your thread!😁

There is a fair bit of healthy banter and lively debate on Omega Forums...... Cheers!👍

No. No I wouldn’t.

And @fnzeee if you want to make a list, make a list. No one is stopping you doing that. Just don’t expect to ask for everyone to dump the contents of their brains for your benefit and expect a few of us who’ve seen this pompous crap before, not to shoot you down.

An 18k gold TC1. Less than 50 produced. The gold plated version is the most common either in white or yellow gold plate, the white gp version has a SS bracelet. The complete stainless steel version is probably the most sort after. There are three derivatives of this watch, the TC1, TC2 and TC3. They were not produced for very long because the LCD technology took over. The battery life on the LED watch is quite short. I think there are many of these still available because they use a shared movement from Hamilton, in fact many omega branded tc watches probably have other brand movements in them. The Solid gold version is a hard to find watch.Solid gold dynamics are not so common either.

I don t know what constitutes rare as in proper rare, its quite a subjective term. I don t envy your task, as we have read, it leads to a lot of arguments. I am sure your list will lead to further arguments but may also throw up some interesting watches for people to look at. Good Luck.

I see we are now posting here the PM I sent after you called me a dick in the forum. So much for using PM's to keep this stuff out of the threads. Again, you set such a great example and prove that its about dominance and ego feeding for you. You just keep picking and picking, egging it on. You are a great contributor at OF...because it strokes your ego to be a "king" here. Look, can you please just stop and leave this thread alone so I can go about making the list? This back and forth between us does not further the community, the forum or anyone's purpose other than your own selfish need to right.

I see we are now posting here the PM I sent after you called me a dick in the forum. You just can't leave well enough alone.

Read my posts Steve.

I kept asking you questions.

You kept being obnoxious.

Then when you realised that I wasn’t going to stop asking you questions, you called me a troll.

When I suggested that every post you’d made since sign up was taking, rather than giving, I was a bully.

When I sarcastically offered you my bank details, I was derailing your thread.

You continued to act like a self important prick.

I continued to call you a self important prick.

Then overnight, you decide to send me the above message.

“Old”?

How dare you.

Still trying to be right. Seems you're the one being the "self important prick". I simply want you to leave me alone so I can try to make this list.

Yeah, yeah...fυck off already.

How would you like me to do that Steve?

Maybe set some parameters for what “fυck” and “off” really mean.

Case in point...

Because you haven’t stopped doing, what you were doing!

Asking other people to dump their brains so you can make a list.

And don’t send me any more abusive PMs Steve, I get death threats, and you’re a rank amateur.

Ta Ta dickhead.

C'mon guys enough is enough.

And sorry OP I have to agree that trying to compile of list of rare Omega's is very, very difficult, especially when it seems you don't have enough knowledge yourself to objectively decide what is and isn't rare. For example, putting a Synchrobeat next to a 105.003 and a 145.012 in terms of scarcity makes no sense to me at all. I can go and buy today many, many, many of those SM refs with just the click of a button, but show me a Synchrobeat for sale?

Yes, you shared that this is your opinion. I told you, your opinion is but one and you have no right to enforce your will on me and sabotage this thread. As I said many times now, if you are opposed to the idea of the thread, then you have the right to stay out of it and not contribute your knowledge. Others here are contributing and finding the idea of seeing some scarce watches pretty cool. Having made your same point now many many times (yes, we hear you...you think this is leeching and disagree with the entire notion of this thread), can you have the decency and respect to stop...if not for me than for those who want to contribute? Please, just go.

Thanks for the feedback...It is for sure a difficult task. And yes, the syncrobeat was supposed to be in the legendary section...it was a copy/paste error...corrected it. I welcome feedback on the list to shift things around as appropriate. I think that is valuable feedback.

OK, attempting to refocus the discussion back to topic. Besides specific models of Omegas, which features do you consider to be the most scarce / uncommon? For example, some have mentioned enameled cloisonné, or stepped dials, or a gold-colored date indicator on a Seamaster. Have you encountered other interesting variations that are less common? Perhaps unusual crowns or lugs? Would be great to see photos!
