What is “rare” (aka, “scarce”) in vintage Omegas?

Omega Thin Arrow Military watch 6b/542 57 issue and RNZAF 56 issue. Have never come across a 57 issue or even seen a picture of one. So in my eyes it's extremely rare.
Cheers Russell.

lets call it uncommon...

rare is reserved for stuff like a grade very best or a 372 in my book...

best

Hi Bill
Uncommon to me is when you see the odd example pop up from time to time. That's why I labelled the 57 Omega as rare because I've never seen another example anywhere to date.
Cheers Russell.

Hi there, welcome to OF.
I think the point people are trying to make is that you're not really giving back anything if you're asking the community to supply all the knowledge to begin with..... and you're asking for a serious brain dump from the get go.
The point is for people to discuss matters of common interest -- and to enjoy themselves doing so -- not necessarily to give away all of their hard won knowledge to the first person who comes along.
However, the forum is quite generous at helping people who help themselves.
Best regards

Hi, I could have simply posted a thread “share your rarest / most scarce Omegas” and there would be no issue whatsoever...no discussion about supplying knowledge or giving away hard won knowledge. It is the idea of compiling into a reference that has generated these reactions. How silly that is... it is the same data, only I offered to try to compile into something easy to use.

@fnzeee you posted a partially baked concept on the internet, and when asked questions threw your toys out of the pram.

And then again when the person asking you questions (me) wouldn’t go away.

I mean how dare I post on “your thread”?

Frankly, if you put as much effort into researching,
as you are into complaining, you might have achieved something by now.

Have fun with yourself.

Out.

Let’s not rewrite history. You didn’t ask questions, and you didn’t foster a discussion. You took offense and you actively tried to discredit. Seriously, I hope you are finally “out”. Bugger off.

fυck me sideways! Did you read anything I wrote, or were you too busy being a pompous, self important prick?

How many times did I ask you what you meant, or whether you’d looked at Omegas own reference book before you finally answered?

How many times did I seak to clarify what exactly you were asking?

Steve, you’re a dick.

Twice. Then you started personal attacks when you didn’t get the answer you wanted.

You stated “So you're asking those of us that have spent years working this out, to just write you a list? Hang on, let me get you my bank details and passport number too”.

And at that point I pointed out that you need not participate in the thread if you did not believe in it. From there you just got nastier and more beligerent. Then I asked you to leave.

Seriously, who do you think you are? Because you’ve been here on OF longer you think you can dictate content and disrupt threads? Please leave this thread alone...not because it is “my thread”, but because you are disrespectful, arrogant and have made it your personal mission to disrupt and take the thread off track. I thought you were “out”. Now stop acting like a big baby and go do something else...

Agree completely. Uncommon may not be “holy grail”, but definitely not typical.

But, I will kill the thread if the popular view here is that this is negative for the community

To be fair, I did ask the mods to close the thread...unfortunately no way I know of to close it myself and end this madness. Perhaps when I have 200 more posts?

Oh don't worry about it mate... It brightens up a dull Wednesday night in England.😀

They are a very helpful bunch of chaps on the forum really.😀 You wouldn't believe how tolerant they are with some of the total and utter bollocks that I post.😁

Lol. Yeah, my time before this thread was quite wonderful...many helpful members here. I started with threads asking questions, then as I learned more I myself tried to help others who posted questions. The forum is a great asset, and fun too. I am sure even my nemesis here isn’t all bad...we all have bad days. Problem here is we can’t go for a pint.

Well actually we do in the UK.👍 @tyrantlizardrex organises Time4apint meet ups every month in London. I've been to one of them and met some of the chaps. It was a very enjoyable and informative evening and I'm keen to go again as soon as I'm able. Chris is a friendly bloke, and contributes good stuff to the forum (including some interesting podcasts). I'm sure he'd welcome you..... even though you tried to ban him from your thread!😁

There is a fair bit of healthy banter and lively debate on Omega Forums...... Cheers!👍

HI Russell

Lets agree to disagree.... Your sticking point is an issue run.. Which I do not find as a a sticking point...

maybe if it was combined with a 283 Rg ( Swan neck ) movement ..... that is something else...

eitherway

Good Hunting

Bill
