But... but... the patina! Look at the PATINA!

Makes me think my own badly redialled 12.68z must be worth at least 7 grand! Or maybe more!

Zillions! Ha ha ha ha ha !

Or perhaps not.... perhaps it’s just a piece of crap worth 50 bucks...
    I dunno.

Perhaps the smoke caused the patina! :p

Sellers can ask whatever price they wish for a watch (or any other item for that matter). It doesn't mean anyone will actually buy it. They might get lucky and find a sucker! Can't tell you how many times I've had offers of 50% or less of asking price accepted - and not only me, but plenty of veteran members too.

On this one I would offer no more than 10% of the asking price.

    The market is Strange...
This piece is not a military assigned or a "Tre Tacche". Yes it has a beautiful patina and a beautiful Efco Case, but the value is not 2.350 USD (or similar).

I do not know what they smoked, but I would ask them "after the smoke, why did you puke on the dial ?"

The seller is a well-known NYC retailer. Rent is expensive there.

They are looking for the buyer with more money than knowledge. They are fully prepared to wait until that person shows up at their door.

    Postage is equally outrageous.

Move along, nothing to see here.

Right, and I thought I was the one looking at the world through rose colored glasses....

Are they still paying rent in the city? Last time I was in NYC (that was a while ago) I went to their address on 42d street and found their stall (or whatever it was) had closed one week prior.

I got a watch from the seller for more than 50% off on EBay. Unfortunately he has a laisse-fair attitude to correctness of parts.
    I would caution when buying.

Gone are the days where you got patina for free.
Someone had to wear that for 40-50 years to get that patina
That costs money, seller had to pay someone to do that ;)

It's always cooler if you pay for Patina. It's a rich thing :whistling:

That dial will form part of the next year's Longines Baselworld announcement reissue. You heard it here first ;)

This same retailer is selling a Longines for $1950, the exact same style I purchased at a garage sale in town for $10.

What pisses me off is that at that price, they did not even bother replacing the crystal. If someone with deep pockets wants to buy a trouble free watch that has been serviced, good for them. Those guys do not even try to pretend that they care.
