·I'm new to the forum and my confusion about my own watch configuration is being sorted in the vintage forum. Prior to joining I was trying to sort out the wheat from the chaff via the internet 24/7 and in the process came across practices that aren't clear to me. People selling older watches (20 years and older type) mostly seem have no box or paperwork and this doesn't seem to be a real impediment. A few have all the paperwork and box which excites a little interest and then others separate the components selling the box and documents separately from the bracelet and the watch bare is sold separately again.
It seems that IF the seller disposes of everything then the sum of the parts is more than the whole which is to the sellers advantage. I suppose my underlying question is, is there really a market for boxes and paperwork? I can get the hardware side. I'm not in the business and have nothing to sell but the question has been bugging me for a few weeks now. Is this really something people want or is it just a seller putting toes in the market for what seems to be astronomical prices.
