I spied a Rolls razor under your cabinet. I don't collect razors, but I am proud to say I DO have a Rolls (razor, that is!) The only time mine has ever been used was the ONE time I decided to try it. Terrible shave!

Hi Canuck;

Requires honing. The hone that is part of the Rolls razor's kit is not up to the task. Perhaps it would work if the blade was well-maintained. I've tried the Rolls and it acts like it wants to shave. Something acts like it wants to shave is pretty miserable for actual shaving. I got a terrible shave too.

I'm going to address the thing again sometime but better sharpen the blade by some other means.

I am interested in vintage bicycles, have had a number pass through my hands, though nothing particularly rare. I especially like vintage Treks from the early 80s.

Also am interested in banjos; I have a circa 1915 five stringer and a couple more modern ones.

Colt SP-1 from 1973

I enjoy the U.S. small arms from World War II and earlier best but have one example of a "retro black rifle" to go with the earlier stuff.

"I collect too much honestly."

I do too and also have a wonderful wife who cannot comprehend collecting anything but puts up with me anyway.

I don't remember mentioning double-edge razors earlier in this thread but have collected most of the 20th century Gillette models beginning with Gillette's first model, an uncommonly found 1904 Gillette "Double Ring."

My favorite daily shaver is the pre-war Gillette Aristocrat (gold, open-comb model on right). Makes one feel like Gary Cooper, Humphrey Bogart, or Clark Gable to shave with it.

Two other scarce models shown here are the gold 1940 Regent Tech (center), the production of which lasted only a year before wartime requirements caused it to be discontinued, and the rhodium 1949 Executive (left), the only completely rhodium-plated American Gillette model which was only sold in the Christmas season of 1949.

Love the vintage Gillettes ! I have a few ( what I tell my wife! Wink) . I personally used a bulldog open comb for about a year , then a 2011 R41 match on a bob's razor works bullmastiff deluxe xl tu tone handle. And more software and brushes that I don't know what to do with!

I also used to collect phonographs , still have a few ....
Good hunting
Bill

Don't have the funds to start a collection just yet but here's the start of...(fingers crossed my wife will allow me to continue)...sports cars.

Without giving it much thought… baseball gloves.

I started buying old ones to make watch straps.

So it’s all your fault.

A years old thread. I posted ten years ago, and listed my collections, but forgot to mention bow ties! A couple dozen of those. The last two I bought in Italy. Silk, €22.00 each. Couldn’t touch them at a price anywhere near that where I live!

I've been into original sports photography for many years. Here's a very young Lou Gehrig.

I figured there was one or more collecting threads here, and sure enough. I collect several kinds of things....not for their value or to impress anyone, but because they are things I like to have around me when I'm at home relaxing. I'm guessing many of you have similar inclinations. Please share your collections....one at a time or several in a post. I have no idea where to start with mine. Cars are among my collectibles, I'm thinking here more of things that you keep inside your home. I'll go with movie posters since someone else started with theirs. I've got many, but this one is a 3 sheet (basically the size of 3 standard posters stacked horizontally). They were often outside of movie theaters and probably stopped being used in the 70s. This is "THEM.' It is from that post atomic bomb era when everyone was terrified that everything was going to become HUGE. In this case, ants. Leonard Nimoy had a very small part before he was known. It holds up pretty well.

I collect old ball gloves, too, but not like your collection. I only have Wilson A2000s from the 60s to 80s. They were made in the USA from excellent leather during that time. I do have a few good catcher's gloves from my own years under the tools of ignorance. And I'm pretty sure this glove stand is actually meant to be hanging a ceiling light fixture.

When I was younger, and I still have, I collected Coins, Sports Cards and Comics.

Now…I just collect bad habits…

Some very nice "What Else?" collections. Through the years, I have accumulated many things that, prior to this thread, I would have considered "collections". But my bicycles and baseball cards can't compete with what I have seen here.

However, I do have some plastic guns and rifles...that go with my GI Joe Action Figures (not dolls). None of my originals made it out of childhood. These are all later issues that I picked up hoping to interest my young son (It didn't work. He was too obsessed with Star Wars).

As I look at it now, I'm very disappointed with the Mercury Astronaut...

No Speedmaster!
Sweet! I do have some GI Joe originals that made it out of my childhood. Most of it is in far from mint condition, though my West Point cadet is complete and in mostly decent shape. Alas, my mother was unwilling to save my Navy jet fighter plane as it was taking up too much attic space. Nor my seat from the original Yankee Stadium, but that's another sad story.

I've seen some impressive vehicles in this thread, but none diecast. Here's one of my 1961 Harley-Davidson FLH Duo Glides with sidecar. Can't you just feel the wind of the open road in your face?

Sorry for your losses. I can’t bear thinking of all the things I no longer have. Here are a couple joes. The one I dressed as me from the 80s.
