there's a late 69-early '71 batch that have the "well-chewed spearmint gum green" looking lume.

This is correct - though we usually see that lume from late 1970 / early '71 through the 1st-ex 145.022-76 models. Not often paired with an earlier -69 (DON model) so it makes me wonder a bit. It's a very nice package, but I'm not sure about originality

Do we know the serial number?

looks very clean.

there's a late 69-early '71 batch that have the "well-chewed spearmint gum green" looking lume. not as popular with everyone, but nothing incorrect about.

the hands look very clean, which could set off alarms as replacement, but given the condition of the rest of the watch i think it has been mostly been safeguarded in a "clean, dry place" and all original.

$7k would be a good deal for you, and not outright unfair to a private seller that did no due diligence.

The seller tells me he wore it a few times then saved it for many years. This seems explain the exceptional condition of the hands.

I think it's ok.

I've had a 29mil -69 with a DON with the exacta same lume. Came from the daughter of the original owner, in immaculate condition.

The "lady" made it home.
Here are pictures to thank all of you participants in this thread.
Without your helps and some few of you that gave me very precious advice in private, this would not have been possible.
The price inflated in a few days as the seller change his mind from the initial price but I managed to catch it and am happy with the watch. It is almost my age (one year younger).
Thank you all again. I hope you enjoyed the "hunt" with me.

I'm not an expert but it looks great to me.

Not sure, but I think the "3 70" on the clasp means the bracelet was made in March 1970.
(Edit: note, the post below by bjhove corrected this to mean the "3rd Quarter of 1970".).

If you have time, a couple of more pictures would be nice.
- The underside of the end links might show the model number of the end links.
- And, a side shot of the crown would be interesting too.

And, if you ever take the caseback off, a picture of the movement and the inside of the inner cover.

Thanks.

Very nice watch, a great xmas-gift! - the 3 means 3rd quarter of 1970, as far as I Know. Wear it in good health

It's a great catch. Everything looks original and excellent.

Can you share some pics of the sides to confirm case condition.

Well, that’s a wonderful Xmas present.

From those pics, case looks sharp as hell...

Finding this kind of condition direct from the first owner will be more and more scarce...
