Hi there, After reading for weeks on end I registered and have a question about a watch I found online. I'm into vintage stuf, like cars, and would like to own a vintage speedmaster. But lack the experience to really determine if the watch is a good one. What do you think of the watch with the brown strap? Thank you so much. Rob
Wait for the real experts to chime in, to my not so expert eyes this one looks quite nice despite the fact that the lume on the dial seems to be gone.
to me it looks great. Do you know the Standtop description of the speedmaster http://www.standop.net/Uhren/Div/downloads/omegaspeedmasterbroschueregstandop.pdf sorrry, it´s in German but you find a lot of pictures in it. Your picutres show a watch in fantatsctic condititon. Dial seems to be already a bit of brown, nice stepdial. Lume seems to be also on the dial, but you should have a look on it in nature. Dot over 90 bezel is great! Some scratches in the crystal, but with a little polish they might disappear. I would ask for a picutre of the movement. Serialnr. should be between 27 and 30mil. Regards Sigi
Looks great to me. Correct bezel, even patina and a nice and fat case (although the harsh lighting can be tricky when assessing case thickness). Can't tell if the crown and pushers are correct with these pics, but they are pretty commonly replaced. The hidden omega logo is present on the crystal so it's original, and yes, the scratches I think will come of easily. If the serial matches and the price isn't too steep, I'd go for this one. It actually looks a lot like mine, also a 145022-69ST with Pre Moon caseback! (I had the early chrono hand changed since pic was taken)
Wow that's a nice Speedmaster! Thanks all for the replies. Here another picture from the crown and pusher: What would be a fair price do you guess? Assuming the serial, movement and caseback are ok?
The dial and fonts look amazing. You would of thought the batons and hands colouring would look more aged but if 100% and no reson it should not be it looks amazing.
That's a minty looking Speedy! Here's a set of data points to start with regarding pricing http://speedmaster101.com/price-chart-2/
Watch is ok, but not in fantastic condition , because there is no lume at the dial or? I would pay round about 2600 $.
Actually I think from the latest pic that there is lume on the dial still. From the first pics I also had the impression it was gone.
Nice Condition , bezel still in good health. Also Dial and hands are clean Probably I would give it around 2800$ Good luck
Lume looks present to me. Gone a nice yellow colour as expected and matches well to the rest of the hands. Nice patina. Overall looks like a really good example. Would be good to see the crown and pushers though, although the important bits look right.
Very nice! Ones not nearly as good going for well over $3k on Chrono24. If you're not going to pursue it please PM me!
Ok. mea culpa i think on the last picture you can see the lume, bright yellow. If you like the watch go for it.
Guys I bought the watch today. Serviced in december this year by omega specialist. Absolutely stunning watch. Really like it! Thanks for the advice. And switched to a hand made darker brown lether strap. Slightly worn finish but I think it's perfect.
