Hi. I'm new to vintage Speedmasters, but I'm already in love with many of the Pre Moon watches. Currently I'm on the look out for a 105.002 in good condition and during my search I found this 105.002 watch: http://steinerveiling.nl/en/shop/products/omegaspeedmaster-pre-moon (attached a photo) A few of the parts however seems odd and I can't match them with the original ref according to my knowledge. 1. The bezel has long 2/3 width markings and not 1/2 as I would think. 2. The seconds dial has a spear tip, but the other end is not drop-shaped. 3. The minutes and the hour dials should be indicated by straight, white, luminous hands. They are not. I hope you can enlighten me. I've probably missed something, but I would love to know what to look for when determining the authenticity of a 105.002. Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Mikkel
Many things incorrect on this example; bezel and second hand are wrong, hour and minute hands look like modern replacement, lume on the dial has been cleaned, and maybe more... Take a look here: http://www.speedmaster101.com/105-002/
Ouch, so tough to see these watches. This use to be a 105.012 (or so it is advertised as such). So what is it worth now?
Exactly my thought! I think I'll buy the Moonwatch Only book for future reference. Kind regards, Mikkel
I once enquired about a watch they had in stock about 8 years ago and was shocked when they quoted me a price about 3 times what I expected it to be. Needless to say the last time I looked on their site the watch was still listed with the same price. The funny thing was even with the large rise in values for this model over the last 8 years it still looks expensive
