What do you think about this PO 2500?

Was curious if this watch looked all good. It looks fine to me, but I am always nervous about the POs without the sapphire caseback. Seller is under the impression it is new. I’m not convinced because the packaging doesn’t look right to me, but it is in excellent condition regardless. Thanks for any help!

Can only reference the searching I did for mine, looks ok to me, 2500c?
The experts will chime in, I thought the 2500's came with the red cases rather than the wooden box?

It is a 2500c and it does come with the red box in the last picture. I should clarify that by “packaging,” I meant the plastic around the Watch, not the box. Thanks

    42 or 45.5?

    Looks good to me.

    42. I know you’ve mentioned before that the 42mm 2500 po is your favorite, and although I haven’t seen it in the flesh, it looks like it may be mine too.

I was undecided for a couple of years about this same model from just looking at pictures. Once I finally had tried one on the wrist I wondered why it took me so long as I instantly liked it. Its 42mm size is right, the thickness is hardly noticeable, 20mm lug space allows for a large choice of straps and bracelets. They were factory supplied on a shark mesh also but not as popular as this model bracelet. It is not uncommon to still find these NOS. I contacted Kringkily and he found me one pre owned within a day. Together with my 2254.50 (also a Kringkily purchase) it is one of my favourite divers. I have 7 divers at the moment and the amount is steadily growing.

    Exactly.

Also it’s retro inspired without it being a retro watch. It’s a clean modern interpretation of the original 300.

The last 2500Cs were put in 2201.50s in circa 2012 so I think to call it new is stretching it rather. I have one and I love it, but I prefer the LE reissue SM300.

Imho it's a modern day classic, personally I think OM made an error making the 232s in their proportion. The 2500s seems to have a pretty buoyant price point too, on a steady rise for the good ones.

Can’t tell from these pics if there’s anything fishy. Buy the seller in this case.

    And....
Snatch these up while you can. It’s getting harder to find decent ones as time goes by

Just checked. My 2201.50 with 2500C is on 84.98m and has papers dated 2010. This puts the OP on watch on 81.85m at circa, what, 2008-9.

So I do really want to pick it up, but I guess I’m worried the price is a bit steep... asking $2900. I know the prices on these have climbed recently, but that seems like a lot. This is a local listing btw.

That actually sounds ok to me for a mint one. If I was listing mine, and I am not, it would be around £2k-2.1k so $2600-2750 but mine isn’t brand new so your price seems pretty reasonable.

Ah ok, how has the 2500c been treating you? I know it has a questionable record, but I also realize that it is probably blown out of proportion.

No issues at all. I also have amongst others a perfect 3313B Speedmaster which is also supposedly a UXB or death trap so maybe I am just lucky!

Here's mine, it's been superb, when it's been allowed out from embargo.

IMO, that LM PO is the closest the PO came to perfection

That’s the one for me. That one and the LMLE .
Even in the xl size these PO to me are far far far better than the 8500.

    Price is good too.

Im tempted to advice you not to take it......and then ask for a reference to the listing. :whistling:
