That one was discussed in the recommended eBay watches thread, where various problems were identified IIRC

IIRC = if I remember correctly

I think George pointed out that the case on this watch had been cut to make it approximate the correct case pattern. There were also some other problems with it that I don't recall now.

We also commented on the "extreme mild normal wear" - whatever that means - and it's contradiction to the "been in a safe for most of the last 47 years".

Principally the greatly refinished case or should I say ground away case.

With this in mind you think the international warranty is fake?

I'm not sure why you think that. The watch is refinished but it is real. The finishing has actually marred the shape from the correct proportions.

Around 35% of the asking price.

The problem with this watch which gives it the low evaluation from Mike above, (I would not want it even @ $4000) is that many things can be fixed; correct replacement bezel, hands, dials, etc.(albeit with some difficulty), but you can not undo the damage that was done to the case.
Who ever did it was very foolish, the age and life of the watch can still be seen, and the value is now shot. Normally these cases are still quite valuable even with the bangs, nicks and naturally smoothed areas caused by a useful life.
