I just came out of a cave from an island far far away and just learned of quick release spring bars. I love them! You???

Yes, I also recently discovered the joys of quick release bars!

So much more practical and means I have changed the strap for my new Speedie pretty much every few days, as it only takes moments to do.

Would be great if these became a standard for most straps

Normal every time for me - I don’t like what quick release does to the strap. And it only takes me about 5 seconds to change a normal one ....

As a skinny wrister I'm not a fan, you tend to be able to see the ball bits(ooh matron) between the strap and case gap which catches my eye. I've had them on straps in the past and switched them out for regular spring bars because of this.

I prefer QR when it’s an option. It’s a bit faster to change out a strap and while I’ve never had an issue, the less I have to bring a spring bar tool near a vintage watch the better.

The only downside I’ve found is on one of my watches the QR hits the watch when you try to lay strap behind it.

What does it do to a strap???

I like the versatility, if the QR sticks out too much (it does not for me, even with smaller wrists) I could always just throw in a normal spring bar!

    To each their own though!

Old school regular spring bars for me. I'm not usually in a hurry to change the strap and I like to use new spring pins when I do change them.

    I consulted my boss/wife.

She says quick release is always her preference.

On a leather strap yes, but definitely not on a vintage bracelet with folded end links as the pin can rotate and the lever then gets stuck somewhere out of reach inside the end link (voice of experience). It’s a great pity as I would love to swap freely between bracelet and strap on my Railmaster but I personally find the regular spring bars a right royal pain in the butt, so it stays on the bracelet.

What about the regular spring bars make it such an annoyance for you? This will be my first time changing off the bracelet so I will be sure to be extra careful!

Quick - sooo much easier and no risk of scratching the case if you got fat fingers and ham fisted dexterity!

Sorry to bring up an old thread but does anyone know if these can be used on the steel bracelets - the seamaster 300 bond style bracelet to be precise?
