What can you tell me about this Seamaster De Ville Daydate?

Hi all - let me start off by saying I have very limited knowledge of watches and am just trying to get started and learn more (please be kind and constructive).

I recently bought this Seamaster De Ville Daydate on ebay. I liked the look of it, put in a low bid, and ended up winning. I have no detail on the watch, no papers, and have found very little in my research. I’ve seen a few similar watches through Google images (mostly on jeweler sites) but it seems like most of the Seamaster De Ville Daydates are the Tiffany & Co. branded ones.

Can anyone tell me more about this watch? Is it authentic? Seems like it’s been recased at some point, and the crown is definately not original. I have not had it opened to see the serial number yet. It came with a non-Omega band, which I have swapped out for the rubber strap on it in the pictures.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! This is American reference C6864 but this one doesn't look good and is a hard pass.

EDIT: sorry I just realized you bought the watch. Well. I hope it was a bargain. 😀

The dial has been repainted at some point, relumed and as you note the crown is not correct. Explains the low price. I would return it if you have that option.
You have paid the noob tax I am afraid, but hopefully the watch runs well.
Most of us learned the hard way at some point. There are lots of resources on this site. Next watch, it would be best to post here and ask for vetting before you buy.

I can see that the font for seamaster is wrong, as are the other printings. The lume is incorrect colour. The minute ticks are inconsistent.
This case is a front loader(maybe?) so ideally requires a watchmaker to open. The watch model reference will be on the inside of the back.

One more thing, according to the snobby pretentious watch strap guide rubber doesn't belong on a dress watch😉

Thank you both for the info. Experience comes from mistakes! The watch runs pretty well, fortunately, and did not cost me very much.
