What Can the Experts Tell Me About this One? 1930s; 14KG; Sector Dial

I am wondering what the experts can tell me about this watch, which i bought a couple of years ago. Seller was in Poland, if that might be relevant.

Seller suggested that the reference number is OJ 859, but Google doesn't find much there . . . instead, the more common reference seems to be CK 859.

You can see that the case serial number is 9791009 and the movement serial number is 8927879. Any idea which movement this is? Notice some additional numbers under the balance wheel, but I am unable to see all of them.

Would this one be from the early 1930s? What is the actual reference number? And is there any relevant nickname for this watch?

The movement is a caliber 26.5
Yes, the marking under the balance wheel could be "26.5 SOB" . . . with a "2" marked on the line below that. Is this a common movement used by Omega in this period?

More like mid-to-late 1930’s, based on the serial numbers. Case reference numbers were kind of a relative term for Omega in those days. They would use different reference numbers for the same watch in different countries. I guess those were designated by the various distributors. No relevant nickname for the watch.

“14K gold Omega Watch” will have to do for now.

Thanks for sharing this information and the excellent photos . . . yes, it seems to be the Calibre 26.5 SOB.

I have seen another of these watches that is also from Poland . . . the same style dial, case and hands, and I believe with the same movement . . . perhaps just a coincidence or perhaps the distributor in Poland liked this configuration. It's a great looking watch, to my eye.

Good to see the Heuer Specialist here, Jeff ! Yours has a pretty good dial . That Dial Font was sold by Omega all over the Planet . What is the diameter ? If oversized, it might be a Keeper, I hope. Everything, you might want to know about Omega, you find here. Kind regards from Australia. Achim

I have always liked the Omega "Jumbos", with the sub-seconds dials, and I have a handful of them. But I know relatively little about them.

I'm not sure whether or not mine qualifies as a "jumbo" . . . it's in the 36.3 / 36.4 mm range. Can't stretch it to the magical 37.5 / 38 range.

This has always been an excellent forum . . . great guys and a wealth of information.
