Just ordered my first Omega - 323.30.40.40.06.001

What is the general opinion of this watch? There's very little info out there about this watch. Any other tips to a first Omega owner?

I would turn this around and ask you what you found particularly attractive about this model, vs a manual-wind Speedmaster, without a date?

If you like it, buy it. It would be a dead boring world if we all agreed on one design being "best".

As for the date, I've got a 3330 movement watch with the [small] date window at 6 and I find it useful.

Functionally the watch is flawless with 3+ sec gain per day and no variations on this. Mine's on a dark leather band [sorry, camera is out of action at the moment] and that works better for me with the black dial.

Size is fine on a wrist that is a little over 6"

There's also quite a lot of discussion here on the forum about the 3330 movement and its origins. Lots of Si bits but they certainly seem to have anti-magnetic advantages in all cases, even if there have been rare mechanical problems with some individual watches. Maybe that's a thing of the past?

I had a quick laugh with the title of this thread. Omega’s reference numbers are crazy!

I had been eyeing omega for a while, always found its designs good. shortlisted it down to this one, speedmaster reduced and 3511.50. Then I read about thee reduced.'s piggyback issue. After watching a few close up videos of this one, I really liked it and luckily found a slightly used piece with active original warranty with box and papers so I pulled the trigger. The speedmaster professional was out of my budget, but I think ill end up owning it down the line

Also, since I'm bought this online, what's the best way to check it's authenticity?

I love the look of that watch. Some similarities to my Speedmaster Moonphase.

Great looking watch! If you like, just go for it. The only problem I have with the ETA movement is that you might get similar designs with the inhouse movments of Omega in the near future. I'm not saying the inhouse movements are better, but they look great from the display caseback and have some neat features over the ETA 7753. The ETA might be cheaper to service though, as you can go to any watch maker with this calibre.

It’s called a speedy date. They exist between the speedmaster reduced and the speedmaster racing’s.

Movement is buttery smooth to operate. How much did you pay if I may ask?

Honestly the dial looks really cluttered in my opinion, you have the chronograph and then the date window shoehorned in between.

The moonphase by Superfly looks so much better; but that's just my opinion, I'm a sucker for watches like that.

I paid around $2100 plus import duty (still waiting for the watch). Will probably take some time as it is coming from Japan

Can I use the chronograph function to get the hand to imitate the normal seconds? Is there a limit of 12hrs or can it just keep going?

If you like it, that's why you bought it originally. Don't let other people's opinions change your mind.

Yes, it will just roll over. That being said it’s over 5 years old and you might want to get it serviced if you wear it daily as the lubricant has dried up. Running the Chrono adds wear to the Chrono drive train.

It’s based on an eta 7750 so if you can give us your location we can recommend someone to service it.

The watch is almost new, it was bought earlier this year with original warranty still valid. So I'm hoping it won't need servicing for 4/5years.

Your 323.30.40.40.06.001 looks awesome on a cordura strap as it was a option from new. I nearly pulled the trigger myself and always keep a eye out for a pre owned. Love it but not on a bracelet. Enjoy

Oh that's what the seller told me,that it was bought in Feb 2018 at an authorized dealer with warranty until 2020.
I haven't received it yet, so can't confirm the serial number.
