Remember the scene in Ratatouille when the villainous food critic finally tastes the ratatouille? He's instantly overwhelmed by a sensation so elemental that he's transported, as if by magic, back to his childhood. I think most of us have a particular recipe that serves that purpose. For me, it's the meatballs my mother used to make when I was a little kid.
I learned before my mother passed away how to replicate her recipe. It does the trick every time, including tonight.
What's your "ratatouille"?
We celebrated our having met 58 years ago today, by going to an Italian restaurant in a small town almost in the Rockies. Our son was with us. The weather beautiful, the drive pleasant, and the food was excellent.
In order, watermelon salad, seafood fettuccini alfredo, carbonara with boar bacon, pancetta, Alfredo sauce, and tiramisu.
