What are the significant differences between the Cal 552 and the 571

Hello all,

Finding myself going down the proverbial rabbit hole in the world of Omega. Always been a fan but never owned one until recently, my first posting here is the one I purchased. It's got a lot of small corrosion spots on the dial but I'm growing accustom to it but I digress. It has the Cal 552 and is quite stunning and works very well, currently averaging between -2 to -5 seconds a day. It's case is in excellent condition with 40 micron gold and now that I've been wearing it daily, my growing concern is that I'll inadvertently hurt it or scuff it. I'm a mechanical engineer, hence my love for the automatic, but I have hobbies that include woodworking, mechanical tinkering and blacksmithing.

So, I'm now on the hunt for another that I can wear that I won't mind a scrape or ding or dirt. I've come across a rather scruffy on that has a cal 570 movement but also saw a cal 571. I found out the main differences between these two was one had 17 jewels while the latter had 24. I love my 552 with the 24 so I'm thinking I'd like to go after that. But what I would like to know is what are the differences between the 552 and 571. both have 24 jewels and look very similar. Which would be considered a better design and overall a better performer. Thanks in advance for your infinite knowledge on this subject. Sorry for the long winded question.

I've been looking for the past half hour and I'm having a very difficult time finding any information on the 571. Is that because no one really knows or no one really cares? I'm thinking the latter. LOL!

Some patience for people to answer would probably be a good idea...I know many people expect instant answers to everything these days, but no one is under any obligation to answer you, or to do it immediately.

They are different movements entirely - they look similar but the 570 is a smaller movement. Not nearly as common as the 55X and 56X movements. No parts are shown as being available from Omega for the 570.

So I noticed. Also, it looks to be 4mm smaller than the 55X and 56X. Not sure I want to have a smaller dial but if the movement is just as reliable as the 552, I may jump on it anyway.
