I was only just wandering thru the Zenith aisle on EBAY and I got a little bit of sticker shock. They really think that a 40's stainless steel manual wind Zenith with a dirty sub dial is worth a thou'?

    seriously?

No, but they probably think an automatic 1969 original (as far as I can tell) Zenith El Primero A384 is worth a $1000 (at least). Aside from the faded dial (which some find attractive) it looks in very good condition. I'd set the over/under at $3,000. And I'm taking the over. If he shipped international, you might have some competition... ;)

actually with that case number it's probably closer to 1971.

This one is gorgeous - in my fan-of-the-70's-stylings opinion.

I agree. If you could buy both and swap the dials, you'd have something that looked almost like NOS.

$4,150 with 6 hours to go. What’s the record for an A384?

I'll bet that wasn't a "tropical" with no bracelet... pretty good price on this one so far.

As MMMD already has one of these 'tropicals,' when he writes "good," he means high. ;)

Unless it gets delisted because the shill won.

No shill. The winner is legit - I'll take the opportunity to congratulate him. It is indeed a record, and for a very fine example of an A 384.

as it is a record, I take the opportunity to fix the images for the forum. This a really good example of how one of these cases should look in its unpolished state.

It was a lot for a 384. That said, I love tropical dials and these are hard to come by to say the least. Dial is almost perfectly faded with small shade blemish on minute register. Beyond that case is in excellent shape. I am a happy man. hope everyone enjoying their weekend

Really one of the more beautiful watches I've seen in a long time. Congratulations.
