Hello OF world! Hope everyone is healthy and staying positive during the pandemic.

l’m looking to window shop for an Omega to add to the collection. I love to poke around the internet and keep myself occupied while stuck at home these days. What’s a vintage piece or modern piece that’s a must own?

    I currently wear:

    Seamaster 120 168.088, cal 1002 (1970-ish)
    Added an 1171/650 bracelet

    243DE961-AE45-4210-8178-61F70BC36F9E.jpeg

    Admiralty 136.015, cal 613 (1969)
    ST42057 crown
PZ5127 crystal (still own the original crystal with mag window, but was cracked, bummer)

    324D2817-6788-497F-B378-ECD2B18D252B.jpeg

    Seamaster 2990-1, cal 267 (1959)
    PZ5005 crystal

    B5FDCA43-64E6-4954-9432-E374C24DDF16.jpeg

    Speedy Reduced 3510.50, cal 1143 (1990’s)

I also have previously owned another Admiralty (166.054), a Seamaster 300 (titanium, co-axial 8806), and a Railmaster Trilogy. I guess you could say my vintage Omegas get much more wrist time. My 166.054 had a cal 565 inside and I’d really like another 500 series. So I’m probably really looking for a vintage Omega with a 500 series Auto inside. What should I add to the collection? What is your favorite Omega that you would recommend? Always appreciate your advice and opinions here on the OF!

It's a very personal choice and depends what you're doing while you wear the watch. If I had what you've got, I'd add a gold Constellation from the 50s or 60s for dressy occassions. Or a Speedmaster Pro, if you think it's different enough from the Reduced.

The variety is such that I don’t think there is any one must, more just a whole lot of preferences. The Moonwatch is one of the more extreme modern chronographs on the market (hesalite and manual winding), the Constellation pie pan is one of the great designs of the golden era of watchmaking, the Ploprof is one of the most extreme diving watches. Omega has great all rounders too like the Aqua Terra and Seamaster 300 but its the specialized pieces that make it so interesting.

SM300 165.024/166.024 is the first that comes to my mind.

And as you already touched the Trilogy - how about the Trilogy Seamaster? it has a lot of CK2913 vibe but costs 1/3 of CK and is made up to the standards of the XX century.

    I like that Seamaster 120 168.088:thumbsup:

Hi morris. Cool collection you have there!

I would also say.. Either a piepan connie, or a c-shape connie. Specially a gold piepan connie or / and a silver dial c-shape connie would add another colour to your collection.

    Best,

    Rudi

Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.
