·I understand the desire to have a pristine watch in it's original condition, or indeed to bring back to life a tired and well worn watch back to its original glory.
I am sure most of us have done this or strive to find superb examples of our favourite watches.
But.... I also really like a watch that shows its age, a watch that has had a tough life or as in the case with some of the early Speedmasters and Seamasters the dial changes colour, sometimes just a few shades and other times something completely different as in the Speedmaster MK3 that I used to own and is pictured below.
Do you have or had a favourite watch that fits in this category, this thread may not be for the purists among us but some of these watches are by default absolutely stunning (in our eyes!)
A friend that worked at the UK Omega Service centre looked at the Speedmaster MK3 and said that this dial had oxidised and that it happens to the blue pigment in the paint which then gave off the gold lustre.
So, this is not just about Omegas, please share your favourite colour change or crazed watch dials, I have added the Mulco that has just arrived.
Although I have not put it into a Speedmaster yet, the final dial, in my opinion is a proper Moonwatch dial.
That Speedmaster really did have a tough life!
