Can't believe this topic is 3 years old... as Werenbach will celebrate its 10th anniversary of the unique concept of making wristwatch dials from spent Soyuz launchvehicle strap-on booster rockets, post-launch recovered in the Kazakhstan steppes some 350 kilometers downrange of the Baikonur launchpad...
For those who didn't already, read the insider scoop text here: https://www.werenbach.ch/en/my-werenbach/newsletter/

the actual piece of Soyuz launchvehicle booster metal the dial was cut out of
Is this surrounding piece normally included with a BTO watch, or was this something limited? I didn't find mention of it on the site.

@TDBK
Werenbach has three series of watches:
Mach 33 = Euro 250.00 range = only a small piece of a Soyuz sits on the dial above the six o'clock position
Leonov = Euro 1200.00 range = the complete dial is made of Soyuz metal and this watch comes with the actual piece the dial was cut out of
Soyuz = Euro 4800.00 range = the complete cases of these watches are made from a melted down rocket engine
Furthermore there's BTO = Build-to-order
Choose Your desired Soyuz metal to create a watch with the Werenbach team in Zurich...

Thanks. I was looking at the Leonov customizing section, it's nice to pick out your specific dial and I love that they show character, burn marks, erosion, and labeling individual to that one dial and showing the effects of its trip near to space. The website is not very easy to understand and I still can't find anyplace where they show you that you'll receive this piece which shows you the context from which the dial was cut.

As someone fascinated with space equipment, I'm tempted.

(Attached, a photo of a very, very small piece of the Apollo 13 spacecraft.)

Geopolitically, I guess it isn't that easy to travel to Kazachstan and collect dropped boosters from Soyuz launch vehicles any longer... 馃
