When looking through photos of modern Speedmasters, they seem to be a bit fatter than those from the early 90's. Granted, I'm pretty sure mine has gone through a polish (bought pre-owned), but even looking at the unpolished ones from this period seem to be a bit slimmer than those produced today. Do my eyes deceive me? Pics of my 3590.50
From my experience, they are about the same except the versions with a sapphire caseback (3572.50, 3573.50) are noticeably slimmer than both the stainless steel caseback and even the current sapphire caseback. Case wise, I believe they all share the same 145.022 part ref
Don't know about the classic, but the late 80s/early 90s Reduced cases are around 1-2mm thinner than the late 2000 models.
Not the greatest photo attached but it shows a Speedy Tuesday 1 on top and a 1992 Speedmaster below, same as yours. As you can see there is a difference in the case bevels. If you look at the line between the pushers, it shows the bevel higher on the side of the case on the 92, compared to the ST1. Unfortunately I can't take better pictures of the 92 as it is away being serviced.
This is interesting! Different profiles of Speedmaster cases was also a topic in Moonwatch Only see: https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedmaster-case-difference.80013/
I have a 1990 Speedy Pro and the case is definitely a little thinner than the modern Speedy Pro. Interestingly, the Silver Snoopy Award (Apollo 13 45th Anniversary) case is actually a bit thicker than the standard modern Speedy Pro, I assume to accommodate the Silver Snoopy pin in the caseback.
There have been different suppliers of cases fro Omega during the years, so there are some small differences among some cases depending on who built them.
