I am an optimist. I predict that he is fine. Taking a break. Good for the eyes.

He bought a beautiful Reverso last year and immediately began having problems with it. It was a bit of a struggle with the local dealer.

Enough to take the wind out of my sails (and most people who spend that much on a watch). I hope it gets (got) fixed.

I tried texting him a few months ago. No response.

My wife’s employer is clamping down on their personal use of company phones. Perhaps its the same for Dave.

Dave, send me your new number. Mine is the same.

Oh, and a few weeks back I walked past a couple piles of old watches at a flea market without even looking at them.

I am feeling it too Dave.

I recall a while back when Dave hadn’t posted for a period of time. When he came back, he mentioned he had been a/in the middle of a job search, and b/ once he was situated in his new job, it took him a while to get up to speed, and return to the message board. I have his email address, and I emailed him several days ago. The message didn’t bounce, so I figure it ended up on his computer. But I haven’t had a reply.

I’m ok, still around- appreciate the check in. Been a bit distracted lately with some life stuff but nothing catastrophic.

Hi all

Thanks for all your comments. I’m happy to report that all is well, and rumours of his demise were all greatly exaggerated (as the saying goes), by me 😬. He has smartly tried to get more free time back in his life by pausing his time here.

This is Something to consider in our approach to screen-time. Though I do value the knowledge, hilarity and friendships that I benefit from here on OF. Interesting...

I bought a watch from Troels so reached out a while back via details I had and got no reply. I was lead to believe he was still active on other social media though

I would like to know what happened to @janice&fred?

Fred had a bit of a spat with the mods over listing multiple watches in one for sale post. He may have decided to take a break from OF.

This thread really speaks to the kind of people that are drawn to OF. When I had a bad case of Covid earlier this year and was home for two weeks with complications, there were several members who checked up on me regularly until I got back on my feet. Through the Mid-Atlantic G2G I've met a number of OF members who are now friends that I socialize with and in September I'll be flying out to the Detroit G2G to meet some more. A quality group of watch enthusiasts and collectors to be sure, but more importantly, a lot of really nice, caring people.

I could be wrong, but I think I recall Troels mentioning at one point that his interest in watches was waning a bit and that he didn't plan to participate as much.

Hark, got a hit from DaveK on etsy and he said he was trying to get back on. Not sure what has been going on though. Just glad to see him active.

Always nice to see our members checking in on others. Yet another reason that OF is more than just an online forum. It’s a community.
