Wearing vintage watches in 30 C(86F)+

So, every time it's hot outside the back of the watch is basically super wet. I try to evade open places with no shade. With my KS, there's a gasket, but I am still worried about the medalion. With the Omega 131.019, I don't even know if there is a gasket at all.

So from time to time, I take the watch off placing it my pocket after drying the back on my shirt.

Of course all of this gets annoying, so naturally I would mostly wear only my diver when it's hot which is a shame.(worse even I don't have any Seamasters or a 62MAS 馃榿)

Stay hydrated
I do.. but I don't want to hydrate my watches.

I am getting a transparent caseback for KS which would make me relax since I can keep the original caseback at home and occasionally look at the movement and make sure no liquid is leaking inside 馃榿

When the weather gets HHH (hazy, hot, and humid) the vintage stays air conditioned and I wear this:

If I were concerned about wearing a watch in temperatures over 86F I wouldn't be able to wear a watch for about nine months out of the year. I've never had any issue with wearing a watch in the heat. I typically wear my Astronaut on a komfit bracelet during the summer months, when I am not teaching.

Have you ever had a dial deteriorate? Or a caseback?

I've never tried a Komfit, I only have leather a and some metal bracelets.

No. I make sure my caseback gaskets are good to go, and from there I just wear my watches. I even will wear a couple of my 20s to 40s wrist watches without any kind of case back gasket, and they are just fine. I'm sure the climate plays a large role as well. If I lived some place where the humidity was over 40% very often that I might be more concerned with wearing at least the older watches.

I like the komfit, it's a comfortable bracelet and looks good on my Astronaut. Here's a photo of my Astronaut with the Komfit. As you can see the dial is not in bad shape for a 61 year old watch. This watch gets worn about 90% of the time when I'm not teaching.

I think the harder part on watches in Gulf weather is going from 120F while you walk out your car and get into the mall where it鈥檚 60 degrees and AC blasting. Hopefully seals and gaskets avoid internal condensation. Otherwise I think the watches themselves can always take the heat, it鈥檚 the leather and fabric straps that get stinky with sweat

I would completely agree with you on that. I sometimes wear a leather strap in the summer, but I try to wear everything on a bracelet.
