My Dad’s High School ring. He passed away this past weekend. He had a long run and enjoyed life to the fullest. He worked hard all his life and was a good father - he was 89 and battled Dementia for the last ~five years. It was hard to see him rapidly deteriorate over the last few months. The ring shows a fair amount of wear as he never took it off but the name of the school, the school mascot (Lions) and the year remain very legible, it is the same high school I graduated years later... we’ll miss him. RIP.

    My deepest sympathies

Losing one’s Father, is one of the ‘rites of passage’, as you get older

Lost mine in 2016…and still think of him everyday

However raw it feels now…Time slowly heals, as you will discover

    Very best wishes

My condolences @alam . I lost my dad to Parkinson's last October. Only 66. A great man, as I’m sure your pops was. My dad also had Lewy Body dementia towards the end. A rough way to go for sure.

They will certainly live on through us. May your father Rest In Peace Sir.

    Regards,

    Brooks

I feel for you and your family with the recent passing of your father. Wear his ring with the fondest of memories.

My father passed away 42 years ago, and I still miss him, and, of course, my mother. My father didn’t wear much in the way of jewellery.......not even a wedding ring. He was in the jewellery business. One day, he was visiting the showroom of a national jewellery company traveller. He spied this ring. He told the salesman that this was HIS ring. The rep told him it was his sample. My father told him again that it was his ring. He liked it so much, he bought the sample. He wore this ring every day for probably 30 years. It is banded agate (brown, white, black), slabbed in such a way to permit the image of a knight and his lady to be carved into it. My father had size 11 1/2 fingers, so he wore this huge ring better that I do. But I enjoy wearing it on occasion.

    I never met my Father...
I've missed him my whole life and really, never knew what I missed.
I have a hole in my heart that will never be filled. I filled it with other things.

You, have a full heart of love that now will feel him gone.... but it will always be full.
May his ring be a conscious reminder of his presence in your heart.

    All our love, Alam.

I am sorry for your loss. The sun will shine a little differently in the sky from now on.

I earned this one the hard way in 2010.

Wishing you and your family condolences.

Lost my father many years ago and found it hard to start with but now I find I am turning into him with the way I act and talk. For that I thank him dearly.

Surround your family/self with pictures of him in is heyday, it helps.

Yes dad’s are very special. Mine passed in 2010 at 85. Had his first heart surgery when he was 43. He always liked to say the doctors told him to get affairs in order, the doctors all died off so he had to get new one every decade or so.
Greatest generation. Was in the Pacific in the Marines for 3 years straight. 6 months at a time for me seemed like an eternity. I don’t know how those guys in WWII did it for years at a time.
