@Mad Dog I'm keeping the watches away. 😀

I'm flying Delta in September and October. Do you fly to STT? I'm there three or so times a year.

@Taddyangle...STT? Is that St. Thomas Virgin Islands? I'm not sure if we fly there or not...but I do know that we fly to Rochester, NY...and Jackson, MS...and...never mind.

Depends on where you are from. James Bond calls it "o • meeg • ah".

You might not.

Now if we were to discuss how to pronounce Jaeger-LeCoultre, some good learning would happen. And I know, it's pronounced J.L.C.

Not me specifically, but my sister learned the true cost of German car ownership after having our parents pay for the maintenance on her BMW 318is for years.

She finally took her recently bought 12 year old Audi CVT A4 to the dealership, after a week of repairs they're still adding up the laundry list of things that need fixing, and already she's looking at spacing it over many paycheques.

I think she partly bought the Audi because she knows I spend $2k/year on tyres and thousands on maintaining my old 330ci, and figured it was just because BMWs are unreliable.

A workmate had the same issue with one last year. Took it in for a service. Coughed up 6K to get it back.😲.

Yea apparently it holds the distinction of being the most unreliable model of Audi ever made, due to a combination of the woeful CVT box, and the fact that instead of the smaller 2.0 engine, this particular A4 is the 3.0L V6 version, which is by far the torquiest and most powerful engine they ever fitted to a CVT box prior to knowing they failed at the drop of a hat.

To make it even better, the 3.0 is also one of only 3 of Audi engines with timing belts that need changing every 3 years rather than a chain, and this one is the only one that being FWD and coupled to the CVT box in the smaller A4 body just about has to be taken out of the car to have its timing belt change done as the V6 is jammed up against the chassis.

But, its a convertible! lol

@Darlinboy...is that North Georgia? I went to college in Atlanta during the mid 1980's and sometimes heard "Omega" pronounced "o • meg • er".

I'll type it in the best I can...where I heard it said this way is noted below...

zjay zjair le coolt

The z and j are pronounced sort of together, sort of like you would pronounce the beginning of the French name Jacques. At the end of coolt, there would be a trailing off r sound that you might not even hear a lot of the time when people are saying it properly. The L in that word is also not very pronounced.

I had a funny experience at a well known used dealer in Toronto once. I went in there looking at all the overpriced used watches, and asked if the had any JLC's (I pronounced it the correct way) and I was specifically looking for one model. The first thing the "lady" said to me (stopping me in the middle of that sentence to correct me) is that I was saying it wrong, and the first name is "yay-ger". I said "That's funny, because when I was at the factory in Switzerland last year, no one there said it like you do."

She then told me they didn't have any, and I walked out...

@ mad dog

Close enough!

And you nailed it with the "r" on the end.

After several days of testing, I learned that Cleartastic static cling (designed for automotive paint applications) works well regarding case back protection and does not shift on the case back if all contact surfaces are free/clear of dust/grease. 👍

Without Cleartastic static cling:

15 minutes ago: I learned that people look at you funny if you sport double popped collars at the dentist office. I figured that wearing Speedy Gonzales would cancel out the double popped collars...no joy.
