Looked through our older threads and saw that we had a thread on watches that featured PROMINENTLY in movies and a thread specific to Omegas, but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I'll kick this off with: A cartier Tank on Discovery of Witches, engraved on the rear "To Phillipe 1922." Close inspection of the TV screen it looks as if the hands are blued steel (does not show up well in the photo), so this may be a Louis Tank, although I'm no expert in this watch type and was just able to initially identify it as a Tank (my wife was kind enough to pause it for me! ) What prominent watches have you spotted lately?
For all mankind is an excellent show and a true watch fest. Loads of moonwatches, but also Rolexes Oris and I think the cosmonaut had a strela.
The antiques road show presenter/ watch expert here in the UK was wearing a omega flightmaster last week. Cool.
I've seen several shots of this and his GMT without the crown screwed down. What's up with that? Prop team just doesn't know how or doesn't care?
And from Hawaii Five O circa early 70s. I captured this from a street scene during the show. So… not a watch buy how appropriate for OF!
Mike Ross’s watch in season 4 of Suits…Hamilton Jazzmaster. Shamelessly got this pic off the internet, but I paused the scene multiple times to see the watch when my wife asked “So, what watch is that one?”
A couple weeks ago I tested positive for Covid and during my time of isolation, I watched my way through the entire Fast and the Furious franchise for the first time. Definitely entertaining. At some point the cast started wearing nice watches At one point Brian O’Conner can be seen wearing a Jaeger-LeCoulture Master Compressor Navy Seals Diving At another point he’s seen wearing a Jaeger-LeCoulture Deep Sea Chronograph. Hobbs wears several variations of the Panerai Luminor Submersible and later switches to an Oris dive watch. Shaw can be seen wearing a Panerai Radiomir 8 Days PAM 384 And in the Hobbs & Shaw spinoff he wears a vintage Rolex Sub 5513. He wears it throughout the entirety of the film and somewhere in the beginning is a decent dial shot. And Roman at some point can be seen wearing a nice solid gold IWC Portugieser Chronograph Overall it’s a pretty solid series of films based around nice watches with a sprinkling of interesting cars here and there
Chilling with my kid watching Godzilla vs Hedorah was the moment I fell in love with the 6105-8000. It's a classic story about a scientist father, his precocious son and a radioactive lizard saving the world from a toxic pollution monster powered up by tadpoles from outer space.
The Protagonist in TENET wears a Hamilton Jazzmaster Seaview Chronograph. My late first wife surprised me with one six months before she passed away and even though I'm partial to my Speedies (or is it Speedys?) it's still one of my favorite watches.
Kevin Hart wears this black AP chrono in the Netflix film Lift. Yes, there is a specific time-telling shot of the watch in the film.
Of course Hans Gruber’s Cartier Tank in Die Hard. For American members I always think of Hans when NBC’s Joe Fryer does the news
Rewatching Modern Family and its wrist watches galore in this series. Jay Pritchett played by Ed O’Neill is constantly rotating through his collection throughout the series. He’s got a handful of varying Rolex’s, Panerai’s, Omega, Bell & Ross, and more. I’m not sure if they are the actors own personal watches or just props, but a watch or two always makes an appearance each episode. The Actor that plays Phil wears his own personal Rolex GMT at some point, but in later seasons is seen only wearing Apple Watches. Well, apart from one episode where his wife gifts him a vintage automatic, but he hates it because he doesn’t know how to keep it wound lol. Anyways, always need at least one pic!
