That is stunning, and I want one
What a beauty. Also love how the Lume dot on 5 has aged to almost look like the Omega logo.

168.034.

Omega's big Chronometer from the late 60's. Caliber 751 that are just funky enough to be overlooked.

I bought this years ago, thinking, that's a cheap 861 movement, if I needed one.....

Which luckily I have not as this damn thing kept worming its way onto my wrist. I wear it off on inhospitable journeys. That's to the Tropics, not the mother in law.

So last month I sent it off to STS for a service. Which will cost more than the watch.

I guess I haven't been looking that long but don't see (m)any of these around...relatively inexpensive from a dealer, but I think with a bit of time and sleuthing you might find one even cheaper... Rotary has a bit of a down market image now in the UK but I think this one from the 60s is a beauty...

I'll start with this one - it's very uncommon, maybe even rare especially in good shape (in my experience it's easier to find a nice early 2998 than this one), but not particularly valuable (at least nowhere near the value of an early 2998). But I like it a lot!

Respectfully disagree. My sense is that if an example just like this came up for auction, it would be fought over by scores of collectors, and I'd be one of them.

Here's one that's uncommon and not at all valuable . . .

. . . but now that it's finally running properly after re-staffing the balance . . .

. . . has won a spot in the permanent rotation.

Cordially,

Art

random selection from the many chronograph obscurities that tickle my fancy for various reasons

Oh how I have been looking for that Tissot! The EPSA 817 being one of my favourites. Here is a brand not widely known (pic stolen from an auction years ago - I did not win):

I like those. What is the case size?
Just shy of 34mm. Wears very well on my size 7" wrist. I love how these two have aged away from each other over the decades - light dial/dark hands and dark dial/light hands. 😀

I have an Omega Seamaster 2923 with a 284 caliber movement. That’s a really uncommon reference (Seamonster screw back) and a relatively uncommon movement but not much more valuable than say a 2910 or 2938. Let me see if I have a pic..

Not that easy to find a Olympic style case in SS

If you do it's usually like this ( pic from web )

This was an interesting thread to look through, I think values of most contained within have taken a steep rise since they were posted. Maybe we need to keep these undervalued gems secret, never to be discussed.

As most of my collection would fall in this range, i am going to insert a newer piece i snagged for under $100 - You see these Dual time oldies pop up, from time to time--usually extremely affordable. This variation has two separate movements, one automatic and one manual wind, also original bracelet and signed crown...

Hope everyone has a great day!

So this is one I picked up for $35 on ebay, probably 5 years ago or so. It came with the original bracelet too, but I swapped it for a blue strap that complements the face. This is from the same period when Mondia was part of MZM - Mondia, Zenith, Movado, although the movement inside it is an A.Schild. The indices are all three dimensional, and the blue of the dial is one of the best I've seen. When I got this there were no references to it elsewhere online. Now if you google it there are a couple, mostly out of Europe, but none in blue. I'd be surprised if there were more than 20 of these around based on what I've been able to find.

Interesting - I just found a white faced one for sale on Ebay France:
