Ditto, how I have missed @SC1's colorful posts. His lively personality comes through the text. I hope things turn around for you Aroxx.

Most of the current IWC models leave me cold. A typical example:

Too much, “look at me, I’m a military pilot wannabe” for my taste. “Top Gun” endorsement? Really?

Some of the Portuguesiers run over 50mm diameter. Why?

Great watches mechanically, but too loud and too big.

Just my opinion.

“Other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?”

Liked it, wished they had employed metal detectors though.

Great thread.

The number one thing that makes my head itch is the Tudor snow flake. I really want to like Tudors. I almost went for a Titanium Pelagos. So much watch for so little money. I just can't get over those boxes on the hands. Maybe someday.

I can't say never on any watch that I haven't seen in person. I thought I disliked steel and gold until I tried on a roor beet Eastwood GMT. Love that watch. Then I tried on a S&G XL Cartier. It looked and felt awesome.

I thought I didn't like large square watches. After trying on a Monaco, I almost bought it. Only a thin wallet stopped me.

Not a fan of late Daytonas, like others have said. They seem over designed, like some car models that have too many curves and angled. Your eyes have no where to rest.

Don't like too much text on a dial. That's one of best features of vintage Gallet. A small font Gallet on the top of the dial and that's it. Sublime. No Superlative Chronometer etc to take away from the dial.

Don't care for power reserve indicators. Who wants to be nagged about wearing your watch.

Don't care for waves on dials or helium valves.

Really dislike oval or round date windows.

Who honestly likes a cyclops? It's tolerated, but not enjoyed.

What I love about this thread is that for the people who love their watches, they could care less what I think. If anything, they might feel sorry for me that I just don't get it. And who knows, they might be right in a couple years when I change my mind. 😁

To me the watch just looks unbalanced and the text looks like something I would find on a cheap branded watch, just my personal take, others may well love it such is the diversity of human taste.

Sorry to hear that as well. Let’s hope this year things turn around a bit for us.

Most of the Genta designed watches after the pole router. Especially that bit of stainless flat stock with hex head bolts on the bezel. Sunken hex head bolts with grooves for a screw driver just hurt my mechanics heart.

All of the Genta watches, including those after the polerouter. The man was the embodiment of the design desert that was the 1970s.

Anything with a fluted bezel.

Oh. And most of the Patek Philippe catalogue.

On the upside, if I had liked the Nautlilus, Ellipse (Eeeeugh) or Royal Oak, I'd be even closer to bankruptcy than I already am, so it's probably a blessing.

To me it is reminiscent of many lower priced watches I have seen from China, this is in no way meant as reflection on China itself, indeed I am frequently in China, own an apartment there and am married to a Chinese national, this is not about China bashing whatso ever.
End of this discussion.

Really?
Despite your personal life and experience,do you really think you can say things irresponsible and just walk away from it without saying sorry genuinely???

Now,say you’re sorry if you can’t actually prove that font is what you called it “I am made in China font”!

Please don’t say sorry, bro! 😗 emojis are so limited here, only a few of them seem totally mentally healthy.🙄

Actually,I was doing a simple math for him (seriously). My education background tells me that one should at least have that gut to admit his own fault and sincere say sorry for it,instead of sugaring it up!

We all have the liberty to think whatever that we like to think, behind avatar or as a real person. But once you choose to put those words in public, there will be responsibilities.

Absolutely brilliant thread. It also proves how nutty us watchnerds are but also how diverse. Earlier I felt the strength to finally admit in public I really dislike the Seamaster, I now feel confident enough to say any watch with cities printed around the edge of the dial but particularly the PP with the colourful globe. Sorry.
As for RM; truly ridiculous, but in hand an absolute work of art and engineering genius. Would I buy it? Absolutely not!

GS had went design crazy, there’re always more details all over the place.
It seems they never ran out of the dial texture “inspirations”.

Every time seeing their new releases (accidentally),the eyes need rests and recovery.

One interesting, unanticipated outcome of this thread has been the Genta-bashing. Do we also not love the C-Constellation? My take is that’s it’s not a handsome watch, but it does sit nicely on the wrist.

Here’s another one that comes to mind: if you take a step back, and really look at it objectively, it’s a hideously ugly, bulky, heavy but accurate representation of a 1970’s aesthetic. But, I like the history, the innovation, and, it wears much more comfortably than appearances would suggest:
