http://watchesofknightsbridge.com/view-auction-catalogues.html a £2'500 - 3'500 Ed White ? a £8'000 - 10'000 Seamaster 300 165.014 ?
I don't think anybody takes these estimates seriously, do they? And regarding the straight lug SM 300, it wouldn't surprise me to see that humble 165.014 go for big bucks....plenty of people looking and availability is not really increasing. It also comes with a 3K 7912/6 combi.....
FWIW - that estimate is probably where it is because of the missing crown / non-running condition and slightly worn appearance. No, it won't go that low, but it also won't fly. People averse to projects won't be bidding on it.
From personal inspection? Is it stated somewhere? Nearly all early SM300 bezels look original until you magnify them and discover otherwise.
I think the fact that its isn't RARE or VERY RARE, like every other watch consigned, explains the low estimate.
In straight lug world, it seems that anything goes. There's no doubt in my mind that the SM300 will make it's estimate and the 'project' Ed White will be close on it's tail.
