Watches lost to shipping

On a recent watch purchase from Northern Europe, the package took 32 calendar days to reach it's final destination on the West Coast of the US. Tracking number only partially worked, tracking worked when package was initially dropped off and received by the post office, then when shipped out of the country, then nothing until the package arrived at my door. The package showed up intact, but USPS was not updating the tracking information. You have to be really patient right now. If you want speedy shipping, use UPS or FedEx. I used FedEx to send a watch to Sweden two weeks ago and it arrived within 6 business days, only 2 days behind schedule - but it cost $135 USD!

One of the watches was sold by me. I paid for USPS Priority Mail Express International with guaranteed delivery by 8/12 (obviously past that) and fully insured. Since it didn't deliver by 8/12, I started an inquiry with the USPS, last Wednesday.
I'm a little disappointed in this thread because it implies that I went cheap on the shipping, which is not true.

!!!! IN NO WAY WAS I IMPLYING ANYTHING. "efauser" YOU ARE ACTUALLY ONE OF THE MORE PLEASANT MEMBERS ON THIS SITE
AND I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF I COULD PURCHASE ANOTHER WATCH FROM YOU IN THE FUTURE.
I WAS ONLY TRYING TO HELP OTHERS BY EMPHASIZING THE IMPORTANCE OF PAYING FOR GOOD SHIPPING AND INSURANCE.

BY THE WAY AFTER A LONG AND WORRYING WAIT I RECEIVED A MESSAGE THAT THE WATCH HAD LANDED IN ISRAEL.

THANX AGAIN FOR THE SALE AND HELP ALL THROUGHOUT THE TRANSACTION.

I filled a claim on a USPS ground shipment that had not arrived after five weeks. Tracking still shows it at the PO in New York that originally received it. The last email I received said I was given a total refund credit to my account. I haven’t seen it on a statement yet, but it may be on next months. The claim form came from a group called Auctivia I think. I had to sign under threat of fine and prison that I had not received the item.

Two really nice watches. Glad to hear that the KS arrived safely.

Thanks, I don't know about you but loosing a vintage really hurts, it's not the money but more like an item that has sentimental value.
The Omega 30 for instance was obviously kept very well by someone who really cared, shame that it disappeared.. And It had a vary rare dial.

Just took the back of to align the shield, wow what a beautiful well kept movement. Seems a very complicated mechanism in comparison to my old Omegas.

Just royal mail special delivery. Recommended by most dealers or watchmakers that is accepting watches for service
That covers £500 or, if you pay extra, £2,500 is the max they will insure for.
