So I have the non-date Seamaster 300... what era bracelet was the correct reference for an original piece? Some of the things I'm reading suggest it was sold with an 1171 bracelet, so all my looking for a flat bracelet might be a waste of time. :)

I believe 1171 is correct for the 165.024

I like mine on mesh. If it's a bit blingy, get some scotchbrite pads and give one side a matt finish.

Or better yet, hit one side with fine glass blaster.

It can always be polished back later.

    I just don't like the 1171.

I've decided to embrace the 1171 and have ordered some 808 end links from Cousins UK since Otto Frei just removed them from their site.

Correct...and production of the SM300 ended around '70, and the first 1171 bracelet was produced end '70, start '71... So perhaps a few very late ones were fitted with the 1171 at the shops (unsold inventory the next few years after). So, the 1039 or 1116 would be more correct (depending on the year your watchco movement was produced  )

20.3M serial on the movement... allegedly ALSO a service replacement.

Chasing this around makes less sense the more I read replies and think about it. I have the watch, I have the 1171-1 bracelet, I have 808 end pieces coming in the mail from Cousins UK... I'm just going to wear it and be happy! :)

I wear the 1171 bracelet on my watchco and it rattles like mad, but it's insanely comfy so i don't mind.

Yep, most comfortable bracelet I own by a long shot.

I'm wearing the 1610 while I await the 808 endpieces for my 1171 (talking in code, I am!). It's comfortable enough but man it sure is a lot heavier.
