As suggested earlier Speedmaster (Speedie) for one and for the other my suggestion is Flightmaster (Flightie)
Speedie and Flightie sound like cat names!

If you are a Universal Geneve fan, how about Nina (Rindt) and Eric (Clapton)?

The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey—
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter—
But all of them sensible everyday names.
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum-
Names that never belong to more than one cat.
But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover—
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.

T S Eliot

Thanks all for your suggestions and for sharing your own cats and their names!

I'll confess that my first thought was different watch brands, but the male was the problem. (Aren't they always.) He is, shall we say, a bit rambunctious, and every time I played word associations between him and watches I kept coming up with Richard Mille. That just isn't going to happen for a number of reasons, not the least of which is I think the watches are hideous.

For now, I think the working names are Jewel and Pivot. The two cats are always together, and the male is definitely energetic. That's only provisional, though, until my wife returns from vacation next month. Although she does delegate naming responsibility to me, she also reserves veto power.

And shame on me for not including pictures. It's still early and they're not exactly posing yet, but here are a few to make do for now. Male, Female, and how they often appear.

@sathomasga I was in the same situation as you back in May, sorry to hear about it. I too ended up getting two instead of one. The shelter had two that were a bonded pair and we didn’t want to break them up and I’m glad we didn’t. I’ve read plenty on how it’s better to take home two so they have a friend to adjust to their new living situation and whatnot. Have fun with them and let us know what names you settle on!

Thank you for your thoughts. To be honest, although I had vaguely heard about the notion of a bonded pair, I didn't think much of it. We've had multiple cats before that weren't bonded, and they basically did their best to ignore each other. I must say that having these two for only a day and a half is really eye opening, even magical. Like you, I am oh so glad that we were able to keep them together.

Great job going to the shelter to save a life. So many animals are put down every day in part because people continue to buy from breeders. Ugh. My boy is Milo. IMG_7067.jpeg
