·An article about art auctions at Christies noted that some people inadvertently include exact GPS coordinates in the photo details they send to the auction house.
Being a person with too much time and too little technical knowledge, it occurred to me that we might be doing something similar when we take watch photos and load them throughout the internet. Do we?
I often delete location details in my photos before I upload, but I have a superficial knowledge about what data is available and the inner workings of the internet. Is this really something to consider or am I turning into my grandfather? Or should I/we take steps to ensure our photos don't include location data?
'...photos uploaded to Christie’s oftentimes include GPS coordinates for where they were taken; those coordinates are so precise that they reveal not just a street address but can even identify within a few feet exactly where inside a building a photo was taken. “Around 10 percent of the uploaded images contain exact GPS coordinates,” the researchers said.' From WP article.
