Thinking of taking my Aqua Terra on a beach holiday.
Any tips regards salt and sand? It's on a bracelet if that makes a difference.

Apologies if this is a stupid question.

Never bring a nice watch to the BEACH....LOL....

Kept mine out of the water, just watch for sand as "it gets everywhere" according to Anakin Skywalker. I was very interested to read up on this and many say that "waterproof" may not be all that it's cracked up to be!

Just rinse the watch after any contact with salt water, you'll be fine.

Sand will get in the bracelet links which will not damage it, but give you that gross crunchy feeling so you may want to switch to a cheap NATO for the holiday, otherwise said rinse will take care of it

Get the seals checked if it is more then 2 years old and you want to immerse it.

Rinse with fresh water after salt water exposure. Keep in mind watches get hit with natural salts already when we sweat.

I take my Ploprof to the beach. It allows me to snorkel down to 1200 meters. I leave my AT at home.

I'm on vacation this month, but despite my pics, I am spending more time on the beach.

I typically wear my Orient Ray when I go to the beach. But like others said a quick freshwater rinse in the sink will take care of any salt and sand that might get on the watch, so there's nothing stopping your from wearing your Aqua Terra!

Damn, I can only snorkel down to 300 meters with my Longines. Need to upgrade.

I always take my daily beater to the beach. Something that can be easily replaced.

Like Kmart I take my Orient Ray

Not a stupid question. Answer is simple. Don't do it. What gain is there to bringing a watch to the beach? Looks cool but no one will care. Downsides are sand, sand and more sand that could scratch and cause other problems. And don't get me started on salt water. Bring a solid colored g-shock in its place. Also most holiday beach towns are riddled with crooks that will steal it. Not being paranoid. Stuff happens and these things are often uninsured and not cheap to repair or replace.

I have a couple seiko turtles that are for beach duty. No point in taking anything nicer imo.

What gain is there in buying watches at all? They look cool but no one will care. I guess we should all sell off our collections now. Better to not buy anything that has the chance to get wet or stolen. (On a serious note... insure your watches. Why you wouldn't is beyond me.)

Yep...purchased new in 2013. Wempe at Frankfurt airport during a 6 hour layover. If I had to divest all my watches, this would be my one and only.

I've worn rolex, omega and iwc in Mexico and have never been "arrested" by the police...

I'm not saying there are no crooks anywhere but there are about the same amount in Barcelona, Madrid, NYC, LA, Detroit and Washington and Moscow.
    ...anyway.

If you're afraid or you're in an area where YOU don't feel safe, sure, hide it. Of you want to wear it wear it.

As per your the OP question, nothing to worry about an AT on the beach, as long as you accept the wear. If you hate desk diving marks on your watch you will have even more actual diving marks.

Look into insurance. International travel may be excluded. And lying about how you lost your possession is fraud. I am by nature not a fearful person but I heed warnings. I watched a guy get pummeled by the cops in a resort town and take his watch. I am a firm believer in Murphys Law.

Would wear any watch that is 5bar to the beach.

But do have 4 main beach watches ( mostly 200meters )

First a bit like @Taddyangle you never know how deep you are going so better be prepared

I don't believe it. Sorry I just don't. You're telling me that in front of witnesses at an I ternational resory Mexican police beat a guy up and stole his watch. No. I've been going to Mexico and Belize for 15 years and that's not my experience. And yes, there is corruption everywhere, but in general Mexican authorities are extremely protective of the tourism industry, specially in a resort.... you tell me this happened in a back at in Tijuana and I'd hesitate, but at a resort? No.
