Watch Brands To Car Brands

    Before i got the watch mania ... i use to spend decent time on cars...


    i was just thinking.... To me Omega in watches is like BMW in Cars


    Omega- BMW
    Tag-Audi
    Rolex-Benz
    Citizen-Acura
    Breitling-Infiniti

    i would like to know whats the Ferrari equalent? ;)

    Absolutely insulting Tag is to Audi !!! Audi makes better cars than BMW and Rolex at this point and no way Tag makes better watches than either of those 2 brands.

    I am BMW fan boy so i am little biased.... Damn i always get in to this Audi Vs BMW wars... i thought this is watch forum nothing can go worng

    that was just my personal understanding... didnt mean to upset the car fans.... BTW Tag uses Audi as part their promotions...

    Total agreement on the TAG Audi comparison, underneath the skin they're both just a Volkswagen :D

    You could say the same thing about Porsche, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Ducati and Bentley.

    I agree on Rolex - Benz and Omega - BMW metaphore, the rest are not really accurate though IMO.

    Audi is definetely not a Tag, Breitling would be a better match (while Breitling tried hard to associate with Bentley, I don't think that's a match)
    So trio head to head Benz-BMW-Audi are like Rolex-Omega-Breitling.

    Tag would fit Lotus
    Patek is Rolls Royce.
    Breguet should be Bentley.
    Vacheron would fit Maserati
    Richard Mille is a Lamborghini
    Panerai is Lancia
    JLC is already fit with Aston Martin
    Longines is VW
    Seiko is a Toyota, a Grand Seiko is Lexus
    Citizen is a Honda, no way it is an Acura.
    Orient is Nissan
    Casio is Daihatsu

    Couple of nits to pick with Privateday's list:

    1. Longines is probably a better fit with Cadillac than with VW. Many models, some are really top notch and others, well, not so much. Both are part of much larger conglomerates.

    2. There is an Acura commercial running right now in the US that shows a Tag/Heuer. Sounds like a good match to me.

    3. Daihatsu had such a bad reputation here, they left after only a couple of years. Casio makes some really nice tool watches (G-Shocks) that are used for military and athletic applications. Not a fair comparison IMO.

    Now, here's a hanging curve ball for Dennis...which auto brand would you equate with Invicta? ::bleh::

    btw this is the only thread we'll have on this topic, TRF has had about 80 of these threads, and whoever owns the car brand that is equated to TAG and/or Invicta is always annoyed with it :p

    So we shall have just one, and this will be it. ;)
