I am 19 and have just recently become very intrested in watches (specially omega) I am looking to buy my first one, the watch that got my attention is the OMEGA CHRONOSCOPECO‑AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER CHRONOGRAPH 43 MM.

I have recently been put off though as I have looked into this watch and seen the comments, being my first watch and most likely my only lasting me for my lifetime. I want to know that it's not going to deprecate a lot, will this watch still steadily rise in value?

Aprciate any advise anyone is able to give on here from years of experience and knowledge of omega (a lot more than me).

I have negotiated a price with my local retailer. Happy to share if there is someone who can advise if this is good or not.

Thank you very much.

For what it is worth, I would not look at any watch as an investment and make the decision based on what you like and will get enjoyment out of. Omega makes high quality watches and they will last if cared for

being my first watch and most likely my only lasting me for my lifetime.

If you plan on owning this watch for your entire life then the appreciation or depreciation is irrelevant, as its value will never be realised through a sale.

If you like it and are comfortable spending the money on it then go ahead and enjoy wearing it!

If you think you may need the money you want to spend on this watch (or any item) in the future, and would be in a financially precarious position if you were unable to recoup the cost of it, then it is likely not a suitable financial decision.

Thank you, yes I do plan on owning it for lifetime. I gues I am just looking for justification to buy and have recently been put off.

well its the reason I started looking, liked the idea of having one from young age for the rest of my life. But I can see how that can easily progress

If you're 19, I envy you having the price of one of those things at your disposal! Just my 2c, but I think you should be spending it on college, cars, and girls (in whatever order). You can't make "fo' life" decisions at 19, and you should be enjoying that fact to the max!

I hope you haven’t been put off by the opinions of strangers on the internet!

If you like it, can afford it, and want to buy it, then do exactly that and enjoy wearing something you’ve chosen.

I've got no problems with the movement, case or bracelet which are all modern and up to date, but just make sure you aren't going to get tired of that dial. It seems to be a love-hate type dial, it's an acquired taste. It may look cool now, but how is it going to age? To me it's too much of a riff on dials seen in the 20's and 30's and will get tedious over time. What have you heard that has put you off?

I like the silver and blue chronoscope on the blue leather strap. If you want something safer that is definitely timeless and can be worn anywhere , anytime, with anything and looks amazing with almost any strap… then a standard speedy pro is a good choice. However, buy what you like and want to wear

My opinion (for what it’s worth) is that you will grow tired of the Chronoscope pretty quickly - it has no lume (as far as I can tell), the dial is too busy, it’s a little too big.

if you like that chrono layout and movement, then check out the new Speedmaster 1957 models. Same movement, smaller case, but a more timeless design. That is a watch you could be happy with for years and years.

I think the dial will age timelessly and it will reward you with years of enjoyment and service.

I also think if you have to rely on the internet for guidance, you shouldn't be doing it.

By all means ask for fun, because that is part of the process, but dont rely on anything we have to say.

After all, we are all siting here on a forum instead of actually doing something with our lives.😀

Is this the pluralis majestatis?

If not, you may include me, but I do not know what others think about this 😁
