Warranty card search, a rather unique request

Hi all, I recently acquired a SMP300 white wave aka great white as a local trade deal. Upon checking the watch I noticed the serial on the watch did not match the one on the cards. I pointed this out and it seems this was new to the owner, he’d never noticed before. He’d purchased the watch from a pretty well-established seller on Reddit and trusted everything was well and good. The open case back showed the movement, which was genuine, so he never bothered making sure the SN matches between watch and card. The purchase was made 10/21, warranty date on the card showed 5/21.

Being local to me and a fellow veteran, and seemingly not super savvy in the watch world, I took it upon myself to help him out and try to see if I could sort things out. I started with the dealer where the watch was last purchased from and tried to see if they had had two of the same watches in at the same time, maybe the boxes got swapped. The dealer said he’d check his system, but that they rarely get two of the same pieces at the same time to make that mistake and that it’s been over a year so they’re not optimistic.

I called the local boutique as I’ve heard they could help re-order the cards from Omega for a fee. I was told they really couldn’t do anything and that pretty much only the original AD/boutique that sold the watch could re-order the cards.

TL,DR: If you’re an owner of a white wave SMP300 ref 210.32.42.20.04.001, and the SN on your warranty card says xxxx3066, check the SN on your watch as you may have my cards and I may have yours. Any input or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hello, This will be an issue if you submit your timepiece for warranty service. It will not be covered. When serial numbers do not match, I would question authenticity.

😵‍💫
You don't need to submit the cards, just the watch. It would have been registered into the system so the cards are actually irrelevant.

The warranty cards belong to serial 1575. There is no proof that serial 3066 was purchased through an AD or Boutique. If it is a grey market watch, the warranty will not be honored.

Non matching serial numbers wouldn’t lead me to question authenticity.

Could Omega provide info on the AD/ boutique that sold the sold? With that info you could request them to source replacement cards.

Quite right. Not knowing the history of the watch complicates matters.

PS: If it's a master chronometer model, can't the OP check Omega on-line by serial number?

The only thing available online with regard to Master Chronometer would be the watch’s test results. Reference, serial, and access code on the MC Card will provide these.

👍

That's why I stick to vintage, none of these modern day problems (just old watch problems).

In the UK, replacement cards can be ordered through a boutique and in my very recent experience it doesn't have to be the selling AD/boutique that does this.

You have done this?

Yes I have.

Good to know. Glad to know it can and has been done. I wonder if it holds true in other countries as well?
