Hello Everyone,

I am not only new to your great forum but also to the watch world in general and I thought about buying a vintage Omega Seamaster as a kinda Dresswatch for obvious reasons.

Now I found this watch on Chrono24 and wanted to ask the experts of this forum if the watch looks legit or if something is funny about it.
As far as I can tell it says its from 1952 and from the research I did it about vintage Omegas it looks legit and good in condition, but I thought better safe then sorry especially for the first time buying one 😁

Thank you very much for your time and expertise.

Best regards,

I think redial, the hands have no lume but dial does perhaps the hands were replaced because they are too long, no "swiss made" at bottom.

The type of omega automatic is not crisp but I would need a better pic and not look on my phone.
Also swiss made may be hiding under the tension ring, which may be ok.

The dial looks original, but the hands have been replaced.

Case all scratched. Hands replaced with incorrect ones. Rotor possible replacement due to color difference

Also. Bumpers are fun, but inefficient winders vs. full rotors and maybe not the best piece to buy for a first timer

If you want something for dress. Move up to a 60's Seamaster or De Ville model or maybe a manual wind with 30 mm movement

Thank you everyone for taking the time to look at the watch. I learned alot while reading your comments on it. I will take a look at the 1960s Seamaster and will again ask for advice and opinions. Thank you all again.

You can get a good one for that kind of money, as noted this is not a good one.

Good on you for asking first!

Be patient.

I found another Omega Seamaster this time from 1961.
As far as I can tell the hands are replaced but the movement doesn't have a color difference like the last one. The Dial looks good too
The reference number is 14763.
The asking price is 900 $.

What do you guys think about the watch?
Thank you again for the time you put into helping me find a good watch 😀

The Hands look original, the crown however is not . you can source a correct replacement. The case has been polished some. Type and font looks good.
Do you know the service history or how it is running? $900 may be at the high end, but not extreme. You could probably do better on this forum's watches for sale with some patience.

Depends on the seller, some do, some don't.

I would find a European buyer as you will get hit by European VAT importing into Europe from US. There are plenty. I learned pretty quickly that the old adage “buy the seller not the watch” is very sensible advice. Buy from someone who knows the watch/brand/market and you won’t go far wrong. You learn who the good sellers are through feedback and participation
