Hi. Looking for a vintage omega. Would love your opinion on this one I found off ebay. The dial looks redone, though seller claims all are authentic as to his knowledge. But he is an individual seller, not a professional. He is asking for 1500 $(should be able to bring it down a little). I would like your opinion on it. Because it's 18k gold it will have at least the scrap value was my thinking. I am not a collector, this might be the only one I buy( at least till I can save up for a pie pan deluxe) and never used any quality Swiss watches before and would like the experience and also want it to be an omega. Right now I am price sensitive and can afford only around 1000k and a couple of hundred more for the right one with a decent omega vintage experience.
Thanks in advance

The dial has been badly refinished, the case looks to be quite overpolished, and the stained movement makes me think that it has seen some water ingress. My sense is that this watch is not worth much more than the value of the gold, which is not close to $1500.

This is a really bad watch, TBH. With a budget of $1000, you can get a really nice stainless steel Seamaster, maybe even with a bracelet.

What Dan said, this one is a real mess, doesn't appear to even be a Seamaster.

If you are "price sensitive".....do not buy this watch.

If you are "NOT price sensitive"......do not buy this watch.

Thank you for your response. Message recieved. I was blind sided by the gold. We Indians love our gold. 18k gold is worth around 55$ per gram (4600 Rupees) in india. This watch will have atleast 20 gms of gold. So around 1100$ worth of gold itself. But I am not looking to buy gold but a genuine omega. So point taken and passing this one.

I would be concerned about the lack of markings inside the caseback.
I would expect to see a case maker's mark (poinçon de maître) and a Queen's Head/Helvetia hallmark for 18K.
Unless of course, if the case was locally produced, i.e.: not a Swiss Omega case.

All besides the point anyway, the watch is unattractive, unloved and unwantable.

Markings on case look fake. I would not expect it test out as gold.

Run away at any price.
