On offer is a vintage Wakmann chronograph, c. 1965, reverse panda dial, all stainless steel. Signed in three places--dial, movement, inside caseback. Swiss-made Landeron 149 movement, running strong and keeping good time. Glossy black dial in excellent original, near NOS condition. All printing is original and sharp. Printed Arabic numerals and white alpha hands with original Tritium lume in good condition. All original with exception of crown and new domed crystal. Case measures a respectable 36mm width w/o crown, 48mm lug to lug, 18mm lug width. Dial fonts and organisation match reference pieces. Bezel and lugs are unpolished and super-sharp. Caseback is unpolished, showing signs of only minor wear. All chronometer functions work perfectly, resetting exactly to zero. Watch comes on a black leather rally band that suits it perfectly. What makes this watch especially appealing is the unique colour scheme. Typically one sees the main dial in a silver-gold colour without the panda feature. In this instance, the glossy black main dial is complemented by golden sub-registers and no less than three concentric dial demarcations--a seconds register in white, a mile telemeter in red, and a base 1000 tachymeter in blue. The result is a dial that is appealing and complex but still easy to read and highly functional. As we all know, Wakmanns are rapidly gaining a following among discerning collectors, and entry-level pieces in this condition are becoming more and more difficult to find, so here is a rare opportunity to catch one on the rise! £875 ONO + shipping. UK shipping via Special Delivery. International shipping tracked and insured by most appropriate carrier. This is my second sale on OF (endorsement from the first: https://omegaforums.net/threads/dr-sascha.118487/). I have bought several watches from members, have sold to a member on Chrono 24, and have a 100% seller rating on Ebay. Questions/comments/feedback welcome, and thanks for looking!
These Wakmann’s are a steal compared to their competitors from the likes of Vantage (Hamilton) and Clebar. And the black reverse panda dials are far rarer than the all black or silver. This is a lovely piece- GLWS!
