·For sale is a Vulcain Panda “Paul Newman” Chronograph
Regretfully, this one comes up to the chopping block due to the week full of incomings. Didn’t actually think I would part with this one.
As we all know the Paul Newman Daytona has a famous Art Deco design of the subdials of the chronograph. Over the years we have seen some other brands having these Paul Newman subdials with the famous Art Deco design. The Vulcain brand, famous for their alarm watches, was one of these brands. Unfortunately, not too many of these are around and definitely not in this condition. For me, this panda configuration is the most attractive design of the Paul Newman subdials.
Dial: Dial is in excellent condition, no lume dial. Please look at the pictures.
Case: Chromed case, imagine if this was stainless steel. In good condition, one small ding that I have taken a close up photo of.
Hands and crown: Both original.
Movement: Signed Valjoux 7733
Case size: 36,5mm
Lug width: 18mm
All functions working, serviced by my watchmaker near the end of last year.
Overall, a uniquely rare piece as I have only seen a handful of these and none in this condition. It has a very attractive panda layout for the dial and a great presence on the wrist.
