I have been in search for a long time of a watch that also used the Singer tri-color dial design used in the vintage Rolex Daytona “Paul Newman”. Finally, my dealer was able to find one for sale and I didn’t bother to haggle anymore, afraid that it get away from me. Its a 60s Nivada Gretchen Aviator chronograph with a tri-color panda dial which is totally cool to look at. It is also very rare and finding one is an achievement in itself already. There were a few watch companies then that used this Singer dial design but it turns out that not many were sold either. I guess fancy dials were not appreciated by watch buyers during that period unlike today. Another great addition to my watch collection.
Very nice. I ave a soft spot for colorful chronos, El Primero rainbow in colors and in Melon. Your Nivada might look great on a black leather Rally strap with red stitching...
Great watch, those white-dialed CASDs are so rare. The red tachy outer dial and sweep second are a lovely complement. The indices are also very interesting. Funny about the rally strap, I was going to say the same thing! Dark brown would also work really well, as it generally does on white/cream dials. Technically, it's a dive watch, not a racing one, so the ever popular "blacksmith's" strap would work very well, too.
