    Hi all,

While many of us are sheltering in place to avoid the pandemic, it might be nice to schedule some virtual get togethers. I use ZOOM for doing online meetings and it works well. You can use a computer, smart phone or tablet. The app works well and there is no cost.

I have school age children at home that keep me occupied, but I imagine some of you single folks and empty nesters might be feeling a little socially isolated. I do have an alterior motive in that I live in a very remote area, so the chances of getting to an actual GTG are low in the absence of an epidemic.

Anyone else interested? I can try to organize.

EDIT: If interested, reply with timezone and general times that work for you (e.g mornings, midday or evening)

Great, can you let me know your timezone and general times that work best for you (morning, midday, evening). I'll edit original post to reflect this.

I don't need any extra terms. I am living in Germany and sleeping time is from 01:00 to 06:00 regularly, unless OF "forces" me to stay opened longer. ;)

From 9 to 19 CET would be comfortable.

I’m OK. In Manila. So GMT+8.

With kids also, so hard to say what time is best. But whatever time you set up, will try to make it.

I guess better for me in mornings, before kids wake up. So anything before 9am my time.

I’m good with this if times work out. I’m GMT-2:30 (NST). As long as I’m off work (work shift work) anytime works for me.

    Cheers

I can set up a discord (Free voice chat server)... I can deal with permission etc... It should also allow for video sharing with minimal set up...

If we get above 9 people... I can activate my Twitch account and stream to infinite people... Could be a cool q/a with members...

Suggestion, with all the time-zones (using local naming conventions) running amok:
    post your availability in GMT.

    e.g. 0200-0700 [GMT] here

Best time is probably 10pm UTC. That is 9am in Sydney, 6pm in NYC, 10pm in London (obviously). Manila is 6am, which sucks a bit but all the other times are worse IMO.

That's a great idea. It might be simpler to use an off-the-shelf multi-party video system like Zoom or Microsoft Teams, which are free to use right now :) At a larger physical GTG, of course, there are numerous discussions going on and people drift between them; if you're running what's basically an online meeting, then it might need some more facilitation (like a list of topics to discuss) if there are more than a few attendees.

I'm GMT and pretty much any time is viable...

6am better for me actuallt. Kids still asleep.

And what’s nice about a virtual GTG, you can bring as many watches as you can. Safely.

It is clear that there is interest, and I suspect that a handful of people could make any given time. Rather than try to schedule something for everyone. We should individually take initiative to host, pick a time, and then start a new thread with date, time (GMT) and instructions on how to join.
