Vintage Watches: I Don't Get It

Hi! I understand and respect your point of view regarding Vintage watches. I also am amazed to read responses from owners of watches with 100 years or more.
In my case I love vintage or neo vintage models for example an Omega Speedmaster 145 012 from 1968, a Doxa Synchron era from 1971 and a Patek travel time 5134G from 2002.
I think one of the best era was the 60s and 70s where very nice models " were born" like Heuer Carreras, Speedmaster 105 or 145, Rolex Daytonas 6263, Rolex Explorer II 1655, and many Iconic models up to this day.
Whichever watch style you love is good and as long as it brings a smile on you when looking at them, that is the main goal.

@Felix_La_PuBelle Some of the vintage watches are just like this, weird and a bit sexy! I learned a new word, (yes I even read some of the captiones) languorous.

So for the OP, buy or collect what ever you want, but vintages have a certain style, charm and craftmanship, Its a bit like classic cars, they give the impression that the driver is more than a trust fund kid driving a Lambo.

What I lack in sexy I make up for in weird. I like weird modern watches too, but the 70s had the formula dialed in.

Thanks for the mostly excellent responses so far. To the one or two that can't read and comprehend very well I never said anything negative about vintage watches. I said they don't appeal to me and I didn't criticize them or collectors that prefer them. I clearly said I have a very casual interest in them but not enough to buy one. I didn't start the thread with any negative intentions. I just wanted to know if anyone else wasn't particularly interested in vintage watches.
I never took offence to you question to each there own. I just told my friend I bought a new watch he said what I said it’s vintage they are not for everyone. lol

I know some people will question the purchase and I’m ok with that.

Though you had to run the gauntlet of the Society of Pedantic Watch Collectors, I think your post spurred a healthy discussion about what’s great about vintage watches. The obvious conclusion now being that they remind us of nude women from the 70s.

What's fascinating about mechanical watches in general brings out the pedantry in the best of us. You’ll know if an OF thread ever truly goes sideways when it becomes infected with the dreaded felis catus, but I see a relatively healthy, disease free thread here.
