Recently bought my first vintage chronograph, after wearing my SM De Ville for some time now.
As Omega chrono's aren't within my budget, I looked for an appealing alternative. I fell for this Tissot after seeing it in an online auction... equipped with a CH27, the Omega 321's lesser brother/sister:). Naturally I'm hoping I didn't buy a franken-monstrosity. Any Tissot fans here? Let me know what you think.

Don't know too much about it, the movement seems like a Tissot-branded Lemania CH27, possibly around 1946. The hands might be original, look relumed. Mechanically it seems fine, great accurary (2 or 3 seconds fast per day, even less when on my wrist). 20170414_115930ch2.jpg 20170414_120541ch.jpg 20170414_120625ch2.jpg 20170414_120618ch2.jpg

Nice piece!! I wouldn't call it the 321's lessor brother. It's the same movement as the 321. Lessor known or twin maybe :)

I have two tissot chrono's and I absolutely love them. My 70's Navigator with Lemania movement gets more wrist time than anything else for the last month or so. I found myself in the exact same situation - would love a few more Omega chronos, but they are at such a premium right now that I'm value searching. I've also purchase a couple of Seikos in the last month that I'm very impressed with.

@Foo2rama Thanks! And you're right, it's about difference in appreciation, not quality :)
@jrhave2 , yup, premiums are significant, unfortunately.. would love a 321 Seamaster (over a Speedmaster, don't like its bezel), magnificent watch. Great style with perfect size.

I almost bought this one a couple of months back, but even with the heavy polish they wanted $3500. Brutal.

Oi, some polishing indeed. Still lovely.. Suppose you can't blame them for trying.
Likewise, mine could be yours for a mere $40,000.;)

Nice @Jurjen ! And nothing lesser about the CH27. Very similar to my Lemania reference 174...

    Lemania cal. 2520 (same to CH27 & 321)

Also have a Tissot chronograph reference 808A...

With an earlier cal. 1281 inside

Jurjen yours looks like a nice origional example and you are right Lemania did make these movements for Tissot and many others...only thing to point out is that the hands look like they may have been relumed, not a huge deal. Nice pick up!

Thanks @Hijak! The dial of that top one looks remarkably similar to mine, haven't come across that type much during my desk research:)
Hands do look relumed indeed, minor annoyance. I actually noticed before purchasing, pricing still seemed rather reasonable. Do you have any ballpark idea of value?

Yes, our watches have virtually identical dials! I'm not good at stating watch values, I only know what I would pay based on my own research. And I wouldn't worry about the lume...just enjoy your watch for now. In the future if the lume bothers you, you can find a good watchmaker to redo it more sympathetically. Nice watch, hope to see it in the WRUW thread!

Tissot referred to your movement as the C27.41H:

The 6216 family was launched around 1943 as Tissot's stainless steel water-resistant line of sport chronographs with three subdials:

The hand styles shown in examples above were both correct for the Tissot 'teardrop' dials. Here are a few 6218-8 siblings from my stash of reference images:

Awesome load of info! Nice to read about the different hands and dials. Also didn't know about the Tissot name for this calibre. Great post, thanks a lot, @Vitezi

@Hijak, I'll do a bit of exploring towards a lume touch-up, perhaps it'll be less troublesome to improve than I'd expect.
Regarding WRUW; I've actually been wearing it on a daily basis for the past two weeks. Slightly apart from that lume; love it!:)

    Hi back, nice watch!
So, put together, how's that? Because of the different 'Tissot'-logo and how neat it looks? It looks superb!

Welcome, to the extended Lemania family @Jurjen. The guys above have indeed shown some great examples of the diversity of Lemania branded or the use of base calibre that has been renamed by another companies. Same same, but different

    Cheers.

These Lemania movements are great. I always hope that the collectors world will start to value not only the Omegas but also the orther brands like Lemania, Tissot etc.
@Vitezi nice Tissot! I really love the hands in modern style.

Lemania made the chronograph movements in the early Speedmasters, then Omega bought Lemania. And many of us already do value the "other" brands, just check out the WRUW thread!:)
